So I finally decided to upgrade my gaming setup after my old chair started killing my back, and I went with this Vonesse Gaming Chair in the gray/black color. Let me tell you, this thing has honestly been a game-changer for me, especially as someone who’s on the bigger side.
First off, I was pretty skeptical about the whole “gaming chair” thing—I mean, they all look kind of the same, right? But this Vonesse chair is actually not bad at all. The reclining feature is super smooth, and you can lock it anywhere between 90° and 160°, which is pretty cool. I’ve found myself kicking back at about 130° when I’m watching YouTube between gaming sessions.
The lumbar pillow with the massage function? Yeah, that was definitely an unexpected surprise. There are three different settings, and while it’s not exactly spa-quality or anything, it does help when my lower back starts getting stiff after a few hours of playing. To be fair, I don’t use it all the time, but it’s nice to have the option.
One of my favorite things has got to be the footrest. My old chair didn’t have one, and I didn’t realize what I was missing. When I’m taking a break or just chilling watching something, I can pull it out and actually relax without having to move to the couch. It’s not as comfy as a recliner or anything, but for a gaming chair? Pretty solid.
The height adjustment works well enough—I’m about 6’2″ and it fits me just fine. It goes from like 18.5″ to 22.5″ off the ground. The wheels are smooth too; they don’t make that annoying scratching sound on my hardwood floors like my last chair did.
I was a bit worried about the seat being too narrow (that’s always my issue with gaming chairs), but this one has this wingless design that’s actually pretty spacious—it’s about 22″ wide and 20″ deep. I’m around 280 lbs and it handles my weight without any creaking or wobbling, which is honestly a relief. They say it can hold up to 350 lbs, and I believe it—the thing feels sturdy.
The PU leather feels decent quality. I was kind of expecting it to start peeling within a few months like cheaper chairs, but so far so good. They claim it passed some 25,000 rub test, whatever that means. All I know is it’s holding up well and it’s easy to wipe down when I inevitably spill something.
Putting it together wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. Took me maybe 25 minutes, and I’m definitely not the handyman type. All the tools came in the box, which was nice since I can never find a screwdriver when I need one.
If I had to nitpick, I’d say the headrest pillow could be a bit bigger, but that’s really just a personal preference thing. And sometimes the footrest is a tiny bit wobbly when fully extended, but nothing major.
For the price point, I think this chair is actually a pretty good deal. It’s comfier than my old office chair that cost about the same, and the extra features like the massage function and footrest make those long gaming sessions way more bearable. My back doesn’t feel like it’s about to snap in half anymore, so I’d call that a win!
