I finally bit the bullet and got this Costzon Kids Recliner for my 4-year-old nephew, and honestly, I’m kind of kicking myself for not doing it sooner!
The chair is made with this super soft velvet fabric that feels really nice – definitely not that cheap scratchy stuff you sometimes get with kids’ furniture. It’s pretty sturdy too – my nephew is on the wild side and this thing hasn’t budged at all when he’s bouncing around on it. The wooden frame seems really solid, and those anti-slip feet are actually useful (unlike some products where they’re just for show, you know?). The box says it holds up to 120 lbs, which seems about right.
One thing I absolutely love is how the chair reclines. It’s got this pushback feature where my nephew can just lean back and it goes down to about 130° or so. What’s cool is the footrest pops up automatically when he reclines – no struggling with levers or anything complicated. He uses it sitting up when he’s playing his games, then kicks back when we’re watching movies. To be fair, I’ve definitely caught him napping in it too!
The cup holders are a total game-changer. Before this, I was constantly cleaning up spilled juice from the carpet, but now he’s got a spot for his drinks right in the armrests. There are also these pockets on the sides that he stuffs with all his little treasures – Hot Wheels cars, snacks, you name it. Keeps the living room looking somewhat presentable, which is not an easy feat with a preschooler around!
The chair is bigger than I expected, which is actually a good thing since kids grow so fast. It’s about 24.5″ wide and 28″ deep when sitting normally, but when it’s fully reclined it stretches out to 44″ deep. Just something to keep in mind if you’re tight on space – I had to rearrange our playroom a bit to make it fit perfectly.
I was worried about the padding being too thin (like my old childhood chair that basically felt like sitting on cardboard), but this one’s actually pretty comfy with thick foam in the seat and back. My nephew sometimes spends hours in this thing without complaining, which is saying something since he usually can’t sit still for more than 10 minutes!
The gray color is really nice – matches our living room without screaming “KID FURNITURE!” It was super easy to clean too when he inevitably spilled chocolate milk all over it last week. Just wiped right off with a damp cloth, no staining.
Assembly wasn’t bad at all – took me maybe 20 minutes? And that was with “help” from my nephew, so probably could do it faster solo.
If you’re on the fence about getting one of these, it’s definitely worth it. It’s comfier than the cheap little folding chairs they sell at big box stores, and it feels like something that’ll last through several years of use. My sister is already asking where to get one for her daughter because my nephew refuses to share when cousins come over!
