So I finally bit the bullet and got myself the Chicco Polly2Start in that neutral Beige Pebble color, and honestly? It’s been a total game-changer for feeding time with my little one. I’ve been using it for about 3 months now, and I’m pretty impressed with how versatile this thing actually is.
When my baby was still tiny (she’s growing like a weed now!), I loved that I could recline the seat back with just one hand – super convenient when you’re juggling a bottle and a fussy newborn. There are four different positions, which is kind of overkill maybe, but I definitely use at least two of them regularly.
The height adjustment is actually way more useful than I expected. We have this weird counter-height table in our kitchen and a regular dining table in the other room, and it’s so nice not having to buy two separate chairs. I just adjust it up or down depending on where we’re eating. There are eight height options, which feels like a lot, but I guess different tables need different heights?
One thing that’s been surprisingly awesome is how the armrests fold away. My toddler nephew came over last weekend and he felt like such a big boy sitting right at the table with us. Definitely more dignified than those plastic booster seats that look like toys.
The tray is pretty standard, but I do appreciate that liner that pops out and goes straight in the dishwasher. To be fair, I still end up wiping the whole thing down after particularly messy meals (banana + avocado = disaster zone), but it’s not bad at all. And storing the tray on the back legs? Genius little space-saver.
Speaking of space-saving – we live in a pretty small apartment, and I was worried this would be another bulky baby item taking over our dining area. But it folds down to like 10 inches wide, which is skinnier than my vacuum cleaner! It’s not something I fold every single day, but when my in-laws visit and we need the extra floor space, it’s super handy.
The wheels are decent – they don’t roll super smoothly on our carpet, but they’re great on the kitchen tile and they haven’t scratched up our floors at all (unlike our coffee table, which my husband dragged across the room last month… still haven’t forgiven him for that one).
It’s not the lightest chair in the world at 22 pounds, but it’s sturdy, which I prefer anyway. My sister has one of those flimsy plastic high chairs and it wobbles so much it makes me nervous.
The beige color goes with pretty much everything, though I’m honestly just waiting for that first big spaghetti sauce disaster. The fabric wipes down pretty easily so far though!
Is it perfect? Not quite – getting the tray on and off took some practice, and I wish the straps were a bit easier to adjust. But for something that’ll last from newborn to like 3 years old? It’s definitely worth the investment. Way better than the rickety hand-me-down my mom tried to pawn off on me!
