I finally found the perfect chair for my nursery and honestly, it’s been a game-changer! This beige swivel rocker recliner has pretty much everything I was looking for.
So the whole gliding and swivel thing is no joke – it moves super smoothly in a full 360-degree turn which is kind of amazing when you’re trying to reach for things without getting up. I was a bit worried about stability since I’m not exactly petite, but it holds up to 330 pounds which is plenty for me (and sometimes my toddler when he climbs up too). The locking leg rest is a nice safety touch, especially with kids around. What I really love is how the seat and back cushion move together – my back feels way better supported than in my old recliner. The base has this metal platform with ball bearings that makes the rocking motion really smooth. It’s definitely more stable than the rickety old rocker my mom had when I was growing up!
Putting it together was actually not a nightmare, which surprised me! No tools needed at all – I just followed the instructions and had it ready in like 20 minutes. Using it is pretty straightforward too – you can either push back against the backrest to recline or use this little lever on the side for the footrest. My mother-in-law who has arthritis can operate it without any problems, so that’s saying something.
The fabric feels really nice – it’s this breathable linen blend that’s softer than it looks in the pictures. To be fair, I was a bit skeptical about the “easy to clean” claim, but so far it’s held up pretty well against my coffee spills and the baby’s spit-up (the joys of parenthood, right?). The padding is definitely one of the best features – there’s this extra cushioning in all the right places like your head, lower back, and shoulders. The seat has these independent pocketed springs which honestly makes a huge difference compared to our living room sofa that sags in the middle. I’ve fallen asleep in this chair more times than I’d like to admit!
The design is actually pretty clever. When you recline, the seat tilts upward and positions your feet closer to your head which sounds weird but feels amazing for circulation. My legs don’t get that pins-and-needles feeling even after nursing for an hour straight. It goes back almost flat – around 160 degrees – which is perfect for those times when the baby finally falls asleep and I don’t want to move. The best part is it automatically comes back to this comfy 120-degree angle when you’re not pushing on it.
I’ve gotta say, the stability of this thing is impressive. The frame is made from solid wood (apparently it’s even certified by some forest council thing, which makes me feel a bit better about my carbon footprint). It doesn’t do that scary wobble that my friend’s cheaper glider does when you really get rocking. We’ve had it for about six months now and it still feels as sturdy as day one, even with my husband who’s on the larger side using it regularly.
When the footrest is closed, I use it as a glider to rock my little one to sleep, and it works like a charm! The motion is gentle enough that I can even read while rocking – I finished two novels last month just during naptime sessions. And when I’m completely exhausted, I can recline it all the way back and grab a quick nap while the baby sleeps on my chest. It’s basically saved my sanity during these first months.
For the specs nerds out there, it’s about 35.4 inches wide, 37.4 inches deep, and 40.2 inches tall, so it fits perfectly in the corner of our nursery without overwhelming the space. The seat height is 19.7 inches which is just right for me at 5’6″ – my feet touch the floor comfortably. It’s not exactly lightweight at around 103 pounds, but that’s probably why it feels so solid.
All in all, this chair has been worth every penny. Between the middle-of-the-night feedings, story time with my toddler, and those rare moments when I get to relax with a cup of tea, I probably spend half my day in this thing. It’s definitely more comfortable than the glider we had for our first baby, and I have a feeling we’ll be keeping this one long after the nursery gets converted to a big kid room!
