I’ve been in desperate need of some decent seating for our backyard gatherings for ages, and honestly, these Allpop folding chairs have been such a game-changer for us! After hosting my sister’s birthday last summer with borrowed chairs that kept wobbling (so embarrassing!), I finally bit the bullet and got this 10-pack.
First off, I’m kind of impressed with how versatile these chairs actually are. We’ve used them for everything from my kid’s graduation party to my husband’s work conference that he somehow volunteered our house for . They look pretty sleek and simple, so they don’t clash with our decor or anything when we need extra seating indoors.
The sturdiness is no joke! Each chair has this thickened steel frame that feels way more substantial than those flimsy plastic chairs my mother-in-law has. There’s this reinforcement thing under the seat with crossbars that really makes a difference. My brother-in-law (who’s definitely pushing that 300lb weight limit) sat in one for our entire 4-hour BBQ and had zero issues. The polypropylene seat is holding up really well too – we’ve had these for about 5 months now with pretty regular use.
What I didn’t expect to appreciate was all the little design touches. The corners and edges are rounded, which is great because my youngest is always bumping into everything. The rubber feet caps are a lifesaver for my hardwood floors – my old folding chairs left these tiny scratches that drove me insane. And to be fair, they’re actually not uncomfortable for plastic chairs! The backrest has this slight curve that supports your lower back, which is nice when you’re sitting through one of my husband’s endless tournament watch parties.
The convenience factor is pretty huge. They came fully assembled (thank goodness – I’m terrible with instructions), and they’re super light – like 6.5 pounds each. I can easily grab 2-3 at once when setting up. We keep them stacked in our garage, and they take up way less space than I thought they would. The little handle on the back makes carrying them around so much easier than our old metal folding chairs that would pinch my fingers every single time.
Size-wise, they’re just right – not too bulky but definitely not those tiny uncomfortable chairs you sometimes get at events. They’re about 17.7 inches deep, 18.5 inches wide, and 31.5 inches tall. The seat height is comfortable too – around 17 inches off the ground. Not too low like my parents’ ancient dining chairs that I practically need a crane to get out of!
I was a bit worried about durability since we sometimes leave them out on the patio overnight (I know, I know), but they’ve held up amazingly well to some surprise rainstorms. The polypropylene doesn’t stain easily either, which is a huge plus after my nephew spilled grape juice all over one. The powder coating on the metal parts seems to be doing its job keeping rust away, even though we’ve had a pretty wet spring.
These have been so useful for pretty much everything. My sister actually borrowed them for her son’s graduation party, and now she wants to get her own set. They stack so neatly that storage isn’t an issue, and I love not having to worry about them if the weather turns while we’re using them outside.
Cleaning them is super easy too – just a quick wipe down with a damp cloth and they look good as new. After my cousin’s kids left sticky handprints all over them, they cleaned up in minutes.
