Okay, so I’ve been looking for some decent bar stools for our kitchen remodel, and I finally bit the bullet on these YOUNUOKE orange ones. Honestly? They’re pretty darn good for the price!
I was kind of worried about how comfortable they’d be since, let’s face it, most bar stools are just not designed for sitting more than 20 minutes. But these actually have a really nice mid-height back support and the seat has this thick foam padding that makes a huge difference. The faux leather is way better quality than I expected too – not that cheap plasticky stuff that cracks after a few months. My husband and I sat watching the game at our kitchen island last weekend, and I didn’t even get that usual “bar stool backache” I normally would.
The height adjustment feature is probably my favorite thing about these. Our counter is this awkward height (aren’t they all?), but I can just pull the little lever under the seat and adjust between 24 and 32 inches. Works perfectly! The swivel is super smooth too – my kids keep spinning on them, which is annoying but at least shows they work well, lol.
Stability-wise, they’re definitely sturdy. Each stool has this wide metal base (powder-coated, so it doesn’t scratch easily), and they put these little rubber rings on the bottom that keep them from making that awful scraping noise on our tile. They claim they hold up to 300 pounds, which seems about right – my brother-in-law is a pretty big guy and he sat in one without any wobbling.
I wasn’t sure about getting orange (was thinking something more neutral), but they actually look really nice against our gray kitchen island! The mid-century style with the stitching on the back gives them a kind of retro-modern vibe that’s pretty trendy right now. To be fair, they’d probably look great in a restaurant or bar too – they have that commercial-quality feel.
Putting them together wasn’t bad at all. Took me maybe 15 minutes for both stools, and I’m terrible at assembly stuff. Just remember to take off that protective cap on the gas lift thing – I almost missed that part in the instructions!
For maintenance, they’re super easy to wipe down – which is perfect because somehow my kids manage to spill something every single meal. The leather-like material doesn’t absorb stains like fabric would.
The dimensions are just right for our space – seat is about 18 inches wide and 16 inches deep. They’re substantially built (around 30 pounds each) but not so heavy that I can’t move them around when cleaning.
If you’re looking for decent bar stools that won’t break the bank but still look like you spent more than you did, these are worth checking out.
