YETI Trailhead Camp Chair

Okay so I just splurged on this YETI Trailhead Camp Chair and honestly, I have zero regrets. I mean, I kind of hesitated at first because of the price tag (YETI stuff isn’t exactly cheap), but after taking it on three camping trips and a couple of outdoor concerts already, I’m pretty convinced it was worth every penny.
First off, this thing is ridiculously comfortable. They’ve got this special FlexGrid Fabric that sort of molds to your body – it’s hard to explain but it just feels way better than those cheap folding chairs that dig into your legs after 20 minutes. And it’s built like a tank! It holds up to 500 pounds which is kind of overkill for someone my size, but I guess it’s nice knowing it’ll never collapse under me, right?
The chair isn’t super lightweight at around 13 pounds, but it’s not bad at all considering how sturdy it is. Definitely lighter than my old steel camp chair that was just a nightmare to lug around. It folds up pretty compact too and comes with this carry bag that you can wear as a backpack, which honestly makes a huge difference when you’re already carrying a cooler and other stuff to your campsite.
What I really appreciate is how it’s holding up to the elements. We got caught in a sudden downpour last month at an outdoor festival, and while I was soaked, the chair dried super quickly and didn’t get all rusty or anything. The fabric is UV-rated too, which is nice because my last chair faded to this weird washed-out color after just one summer.
The height is just right – about 17 inches off the ground, so it’s not too low like some camping chairs where you practically need a crane to get back up. It’s fairly wide too (about 30 inches) which gives you plenty of room to shift around or curl up with a book.
To be fair, I was a bit worried about how to clean it after my buddy spilled beer all over it, but it wiped down easily with just some soap and water. No lingering smell either, which was a pleasant surprise!
I’ve tried a bunch of different chairs over the years – everything from the $15 supermarket specials to some mid-range REI options – and this YETI is definitely the comfiest and most durable of the bunch. It’s kinda like comparing a Honda to a Mercedes, if that makes sense.
If you’re someone who spends a lot of time outdoors and you’re tired of replacing cheapo chairs every season or two, this might be worth the investment. Not saying it’s for everyone, but for me, it’s been a total game-changer for camping, beach days, and just hanging out in the backyard.
