I finally took the plunge and got that Yellow Rattan Egg Chair I’ve been eyeing forever! Honestly, it’s been a total game-changer for my little apartment balcony.
So this egg-shaped hanging chair is pretty spacious—definitely roomier than I expected for one person. It’s about 40 inches wide and 30 inches deep, sitting on a stand that’s about 78 inches tall altogether. What I love is that it works basically anywhere. I’ve actually moved it from my balcony to my living room corner depending on my mood (and the weather, let’s be real).
The build quality is better than I thought it would be, to be fair. The frame is made of this thick steel tubing with weather-resistant paint, which is kind of important since I sometimes forget to bring it in when it rains. The yellow rattan part isn’t real rattan—it’s PE something-or-other—but it feels nice and hasn’t faded even though it sits in partial sun. The cushions are pretty comfy too, way better than the thin ones that came with my patio set. They’re about 4 inches thick and haven’t gotten all soggy or gross when they’ve gotten a bit wet.
Setting it up wasn’t bad at all! It took me maybe 25 minutes? Everything came in one box, and the chair part was actually pre-assembled, which was a nice surprise. The stand was the only thing I had to put together, and the instructions weren’t terrible for once.
The weight capacity is supposedly 350 pounds, which seems legit. My boyfriend is a pretty big guy and he lounges in it without any creaking or wobbling. The base is like 42 inches across, so it feels super stable—not tippy like my friend’s cheaper hanging chair that I’m always nervous to sit in.
I was worried it might look too “statement piece-y” in my otherwise neutral apartment, but the yellow actually works as a nice pop of color. It’s become my favorite spot for morning coffee or afternoon reading. I’ve fallen asleep in it twice now, which I didn’t expect!
One thing that’s pretty convenient is that it folds up if you need to store it, though I haven’t bothered since I use it daily. Oh, and it comes with a 360-day warranty, which is longer than most furniture I’ve bought.
