So I finally bit the bullet and picked up this vidaXL 3-seater for our patio, and honestly? It’s been pretty great for the price. I’ve been searching for something that doesn’t look cheap but won’t break the bank either, and this gray rattan sofa has definitely fit the bill.
First off, this thing is surprisingly sturdy for how light it is. The frame is made with powder-coated steel which gives it a solid feel, but I can still move it around by myself when I need to rearrange things for parties (which happens more than I’d like to admit!). The poly rattan material has held up really well against the sun so far – we’ve had some scorching days lately and the color hasn’t faded at all. To be fair, I’ve only had it for about two months, but so far so good.
The cushions are way comfier than I expected. I was kind of worried they’d be those hard, thin patio cushions that leave your butt numb after 20 minutes, but these are actually pretty plush. They’re filled with this high-density foam that’s firm but not too firm, if that makes sense? And the dark gray fabric feels nicer than it looks in the pictures. It’s definitely not high-end upholstery or anything, but it’s soft enough and seems durable.
Size-wise, it’s perfect for our modest patio – about 61″ wide, so it fits three people without everyone being squished together. The seat height is pretty low at 12.5″ which took a little getting used to (I’m tall), but now I kind of like the laid-back vibe it gives. It’s actually comfier than my old IKEA couch, which is saying something!
Assembly wasn’t too bad. I’m not exactly handy, but I managed to put it together in about an hour while watching Netflix. All the hardware was there, and the instructions were… well, they were instructions. Not amazing, but good enough to figure out what goes where.
The best part for me has been how easy it is to keep clean. My kids spilled juice on it last weekend, and I just wiped it down with a damp cloth and you’d never know. The cushion covers can go right in the washing machine too, which is a huge plus for someone with messy friends (looking at you, Dave and your red wine).
One thing to note – we had a pretty heavy rainstorm last week, and while the rattan part dried really quickly, the cushions took forever to dry out because I forgot to bring them in. Definitely a rookie mistake on my part! I’ll probably get a cover for it before winter hits.
Overall, for what we paid, this vidaXL sofa has been a solid addition to our outdoor space. It’s not the fanciest patio furniture you’ll ever see, but it looks way more expensive than it actually was, and it’s comfortable enough that I’ve accidentally fallen asleep on it twice already. Not bad at all!
