I finally gave in and got this reclining beach chair with an umbrella, and honestly, it’s been a game-changer for my beach days! The 3-position adjustability is pretty cool – you can kind of recline it however you want, and the detachable footrest is a nice touch for when you’re really trying to zone out. I wasn’t sure if I’d use that feature much, but it’s actually super comfortable.
The umbrella part is what sold me though. It swivels in three different directions which is way more practical than I expected. The sun always seems to find a way to burn me, but with this chair, I can just adjust the umbrella whenever the sun moves. And it’s got that UPF 50+ protection with some kind of metallic undercoating that supposedly blocks 99.5% of UV rays. To be fair, I haven’t measured that myself, but I definitely haven’t gotten burned while using it!
What I really appreciate is how portable the whole thing is. It’s lighter than my old beach chair (which didn’t even have an umbrella!), and it folds down into this carrying bag that comes with it. Makes hauling it from the car to the beach way less of a hassle.
Oh, and the little extras are actually pretty useful. There’s this insulated pocket that holds like four drinks and keeps them surprisingly cold. Not as cold as my Yeti cooler obviously, but not bad at all for a chair pocket! The cup holder is just your standard cup holder, nothing fancy, but it does the job.
I’m the type who’s always losing my keys in the sand, so the zippered pockets have been a lifesaver. They’ve even thrown in a bottle opener which, let’s face it, always seems to be the one thing everyone forgets to bring to the beach.

It’s made with stainless steel, which feels pretty sturdy. The whole thing weighs about 4.54 kilograms (or 10 pounds if you’re like me and still can’t think in metric). The weight limit is 250 pounds, which has been plenty for me and should work for most people.

So yeah, this Versa-Brella chair thing has been a total win for me. It clamps onto practically anything – I’ve used it on my beach chair obviously, but I’ve also attached it to my son’s stroller and even tried it on a golf cart when I got dragged along to a tournament. The clamp is really heavy-duty and hasn’t failed me yet.
The fabric covers about 10 square feet, which is enough to keep me shaded without feeling like I’m carrying around a patio umbrella. And that 360-degree swivel with those push-button hinges? Makes adjusting it super easy when the sun moves.
When packed up, it’s only about 35 inches long and just over 3 inches wide, plus it’s under 2 pounds – way lighter than it looks! I just throw it in the carrying bag and forget about it until I need it. And I kind of appreciate those safety tips on the ends – my kid has poked himself with regular umbrellas before, so that’s one less thing to worry about.
For something that’s backed by a 1-year warranty, I’d say it’s definitely worth picking up if you’re someone who spends any time outdoors and doesn’t want to come home looking like a lobster!
