SWITTE Outdoor Rocking Egg Chair, Rattan Wicker Papasan Lounge, Dark Grey
I finally bit the bullet and got this SWITTE egg chair for our patio, and honestly, I’m kicking myself for not doing it sooner! This thing is seriously sturdy – it’s made with alloy steel tubes that are robot-welded (pretty cool, right?). The chair can actually hold up to 450 pounds, which is way more than I expected from something that looks this stylish.
The first thing I noticed was how it doesn’t tip too far back when you rock in it. My old rocking chair used to feel like I was going to flip over sometimes, but this one has this perfect balance to it. The egg shape kind of cradles you in just the right way – my back hasn’t felt this good in ages after sitting outside with my morning coffee.
Let me tell you, after a particularly stressful day at work, I practically collapsed into this chair and felt my tension just… melt away. There’s something about that gentle rocking motion that’s almost hypnotic. I’ve caught myself dozing off in it more than once! The cushion is about 4 inches thick and hits that sweet spot of being soft but supportive. The dark grey rattan looks way more expensive than what I paid, to be fair.
What I love most is how versatile this chair is. We initially had it on our patio, but when the weather turned, I moved it into our reading nook in the living room, and it fits perfectly! It’s about 38 by 34 inches, so it doesn’t eat up too much space like my brother’s papasan chair does. I’ve been using it for everything – reading, binge-watching shows, even tried meditating in it (though I’m terrible at sitting still).
This chair has kind of become the focal point of our patio setup. We had some friends over last weekend, and everyone was fighting over who got to sit in it! My sister-in-law even hinted that she wants one for her birthday. It’s definitely one of those pieces that makes people ask, “Where did you get that?”
The assembly wasn’t bad at all. Took me maybe 25 minutes, and I’m not exactly handy. The instructions were pretty straightforward, and I didn’t need any weird tools. Keeping it clean is a breeze too – just wipe it down with a damp cloth when it gets dusty or if you spill something on it (which I may have done with wine… twice).
The weather-resistant materials are holding up great so far. We’ve had some serious downpours, and the frame shows zero signs of rust. The PE rattan still looks brand new even after sitting in direct sunlight for hours.
