I’ve been obsessed with finding the perfect patio chair for our backyard makeover, and honestly, I think I’ve finally found it with this Stoog one! So I’ve had it for about three weeks now, and I’m kind of impressed with how it’s holding up.
The chair is made from this High Impact Polystyrene stuff (HIPS, I guess?) with stainless steel hardware, and it really does seem built for whatever Mother Nature throws at it. We live in a pretty humid area that gets crazy hot in summer and pretty cold in winter, and this thing hasn’t shown any signs of wear yet. My old patio set started fading after just one season, so this is a huge upgrade.
The weight capacity is no joke – it supports up to 400 lbs! My brother-in-law is a pretty big guy (don’t tell him I mentioned that, lol) and he felt totally comfortable sitting in it during our BBQ last weekend. The frame feels super solid with the stainless steel and those teak wood accents that give it a classier look than my neighbor’s all-plastic set.
What I love most is probably the curved backrest design. I mean, I wasn’t expecting much comfort-wise from an outdoor chair, but I ended up reading on it for like two hours the other day and my back felt fine. The ergonomic shape is way better than our old patio chairs that basically forced you to sit bolt upright.
The teak finish is pretty convincing too! You’d have to look really closely to tell it’s not actual wood. My husband was skeptical when I told him it was mostly plastic, but even he was impressed. And the best part? It’s not going to fade or peel like our last set did. To be fair, those were much cheaper chairs, but still!
Maintenance has been super easy so far. We had a bird “incident” the other day (if you know what I mean), and it wiped right off with some soapy water. No stains, no fuss. After dealing with our previous wooden chairs that needed constant sealing and staining, this is such a relief.
Putting it together wasn’t bad at all – took me maybe 15 minutes? And I’m definitely not the handiest person. All the parts were there, instructions were clear enough, and I didn’t even need to call my husband for help (which I totally count as a win).
I’m actually thinking about getting their matching side table now. Our current one doesn’t really match, and honestly, having a cohesive look would be nice for when we host people.
For the specs nerds out there (like my husband), it weighs about 29.5 pounds, measures 32″ high by 24″ wide and 28″ deep, with a seat height of 17″. The teak color looks pretty natural and works with pretty much any outdoor decor. We’ve got it on our deck now, but I’m thinking about moving one near the garden for when I need a break from weeding.
Oh, and it comes with a 2-year warranty, which isn’t bad. The non-slip feet are a nice touch too – no sliding around on our somewhat uneven deck. You can also stack them if you need to store them, though we haven’t tried that yet.
For what you get, I think it’s worth every penny. Between the durability, comfort, and how it looks, I’m pretty satisfied with my purchase. If you’re on the fence about outdoor furniture, this is definitely one to consider!
