Stoog All-Weather Patio Dining Chair, Curved Backrest, 400 lbs Capacity, Black

I just got these Stoog All-Weather Patio Chairs, and honestly, I’m pretty impressed. I’ve been through way too many outdoor chairs that just fall apart after one season, so I was kinda skeptical at first, but these are the real deal.
So these chairs are made with this High Impact Polystyrene stuff (HIPS, I guess?) and stainless steel hardware. We’ve had some crazy weather lately—like, torrential downpours followed by blazing heat—and these chairs haven’t budged. They look exactly the same as when I first set them up. I live near the coast, so salt air is usually a furniture killer, but these seem to be holding up just fine.
The weight capacity is no joke. My brother-in-law (who’s a pretty big guy, like 350+ pounds) came over for a barbecue, and I was kind of nervous, but the chair didn’t even creak. Apparently, they’re tested for 400 pounds, which seems about right from what I’ve seen.
Comfort-wise, they’re actually way better than I expected for plastic chairs. The backrest has this nice curve to it that fits your back pretty well—definitely comfier than my old wooden patio set. I sat in one for like 3 hours during a family get-together last weekend, and my back didn’t hurt at all, which is saying something!
The black color seems pretty fade-resistant too. My neighbor has some cheaper chairs that turned this weird grayish color after one summer, but these Stoog ones still look crisp and dark. They’ve got some kind of texture-stay technology or whatever—marketing speak, I know—but it actually seems to work? They don’t show scratches easily either, which is great with my kids around.
One thing I really appreciate is how low-maintenance they are. When my bird friends leave their “gifts” or pollen covers everything in spring, I just hose them down with some soapy water, and they look good as new. My old wicker set was such a pain to clean, I’m not even kidding.
Assembly wasn’t bad at all. Took me maybe 15 minutes per chair while watching TV. Everything lined up right, and they included all the hardware, which doesn’t always happen with stuff you order online, let me tell you.
I also grabbed their side table (wasn’t in this listing, had to search for it separately), and it matches perfectly. Makes a nice spot for my morning coffee or evening wine glass.
For the specs, they’re about 22.5″ wide, 23.5″ deep, and 33.5″ high. The seat is at a good height—17.5 inches—not too low that my knees hurt when I stand up (I’m getting old, what can I say). They’re pretty substantial at nearly 30 pounds each, which is good for windy days but means you’re not moving them around a lot.
Oh, and they stack! We don’t have a ton of storage space in our garage for winter, so that’s a lifesaver. They’ve also got these little foot pads that don’t scratch up our deck, which my wife appreciates.
To be fair, they weren’t the cheapest option out there, but after replacing chairs every other year, I think these will actually save us money in the long run. They seem built to last, and for something we use almost daily in good weather, that’s worth it to me.
