I finally bit the bullet and upgraded our patio setup with the Sophia & William 9-Piece Dining Set, and honestly, I’m kicking myself for not doing it sooner!
So this set comes with eight really nice rattan chairs and this expandable table that’s been perfect for our summer get-togethers. The chairs are made with this handwoven PE wicker that looks way more expensive than it actually is. I was worried about leaving it outside in the Florida sun, but it’s actually UV-resistant and has held up pretty well so far. Each chair can hold up to 330 lbs too, which is pretty impressive—my brother-in-law is a bigger guy and he sits in them no problem. The chairs are a decent size too (about 22.8″ D x 24″ W x 34.5″ H) with seats that are about 19.5″ square, so there’s plenty of room to get comfortable.
The whole set has this powder-coated steel frame underneath, which was a must-have for me since our last patio set rusted like crazy after just one season. We’ve had some heavy rain lately and so far, no signs of rust whatsoever. To be fair, we’ve only had it for a few months, but it feels way sturdier than our old Target set.
I’m kind of obsessed with the cushions that came with the chairs. They’re about 2 inches thick and honestly more comfortable than some of our indoor dining chairs! The fabric is this weather-resistant polyester that’s been holding up pretty well against the occasional spill. What I really love is that you can take the covers off and throw them in the washing machine—my kids are messy eaters so that’s been a lifesaver.
The chairs are surprisingly lightweight too, maybe about 15 pounds each? It makes it super easy to move them around when I’m sweeping the patio or rearranging for parties. We had a BBQ last weekend with about 10 people and it was so nice to be able to just grab chairs and position them wherever we needed.
Now the table—that’s where this set really shines for me. It’s this sleek black iron table that normally fits 6 people comfortably, but extends out to seat 8 when we have company over. Standard size is about 62″ by 37.5″, and it extends to 84″ long. The extension mechanism is pretty smooth too, not like those clunky ones that always seem to get stuck. The glass top looks really nice but is actually practical too—super easy to wipe down after meals. I was worried it might scratch easily but so far so good!
It’s got this modern style that goes with pretty much everything, and while assembly took my husband and me about an hour and a half (with a couple of “disagreements” along the way ), the instructions were actually clearer than I expected.
One thing to note—we do bring the cushions in when it rains heavily or if we’re going away for a while. The material is water-repellent but I’m not taking any chances after what happened to our last set.
For the price, this set is pretty impressive. Way better than the other options we looked at that were going for hundreds more. If you’re on the fence about upgrading your outdoor space, I’d definitely recommend giving this one a look!
