Sophia & William 9-Piece Patio Dining Set for 8, 60″ Black Square Table
OK, so I’ve been looking for a decent outdoor dining set for ages, and I finally bit the bullet on this Sophia & William 9-piece set. Honestly? It’s been pretty great so far.
I was kinda worried about durability since our last patio set literally started rusting after just one rainy season (ugh). But this one’s held up really well! They’ve got this double anti-rust process—some E-coating thing plus powder-coating—which seems to actually work. We’ve had some crazy downpours lately, and the metal still looks good as new.
The chairs are probably my favorite part. They’re stackable, which is a lifesaver for our small deck. When my in-laws visit, we use all eight, but for everyday use, we just keep four out and stack the others in the garage. They’re surprisingly comfy too—definitely more supportive than those flimsy plastic ones we had before. Each chair supposedly holds up to 300 lbs, which is pretty impressive. My brother-in-law (who’s a big guy) sat in one for hours during our BBQ and had no problems.
The table itself is massive! 60 inches square is way bigger than it sounds on paper. We can fit so much food on there—plates, serving dishes, drinks, the whole nine yards. Our old table was always cramped with just 4 people, but this one easily fits 8 of us without everyone bumping elbows. The straight legs are nice too—no awkward table leg in your way when you’re trying to sit down.
There’s an umbrella hole in the middle that fits our old patio umbrella perfectly (thank goodness, since those things aren’t cheap). The shade is pretty much essential when we’re eating lunch outside in the summer heat.
Assembly wasn’t bad at all. I mean, it’s not IKEA-simple, but my husband and I knocked it out in about an hour and a half with a beer break in the middle. All the hardware was there, which is kind of a miracle these days.
Maintenance has been super easy so far—just hosed it down once after the birds made a mess on it. The black finish looks sleek with our other outdoor stuff too, not too modern or too traditional.
To be fair, it’s not the cheapest patio set out there, but after our last one fell apart so quickly, I think it’s worth spending a bit more for something that’ll last. It’s definitely nicer than my sister’s set that cost about the same.
