I’ve been using the Simplay3 Kids Art Desk and Chair Set with Storage for my daughter for about three months now, and honestly, it’s been such a game-changer in our house. We were drowning in art supplies before this – you know how it goes, crayons in every couch cushion and markers without caps scattered everywhere!
This desk is pretty versatile – my 5-year-old uses it for everything from painting masterpieces to playing with that kinetic sand stuff (which used to drive me crazy when it got all over our carpet). The built-in floor underneath is probably my favorite feature because it catches like 90% of the mess. I mean, clean-up is still not my favorite thing, but it’s way easier than before.
The storage options are actually really decent. There are these little bowls and paint palette things that pop in and out, which is kind of nice when you need to clean them. The cubbies on the sides hold a surprising amount – we’ve got coloring books, markers, and even her iPad stuffed in there. Sometimes things still end up all over the floor (because, kids), but at least now we have a place where everything SHOULD go!
The chair is kind of interesting – it wobbles a bit, which I thought would be annoying, but my daughter loves it. She’s one of those kids who can’t sit still for more than 30 seconds, so I guess the movement helps? It’s got these bumpy parts that are supposed to be “sensory” something-or-other. Whatever they are, she seems to like them.
Assembly wasn’t bad at all. I’m definitely not handy (my partner usually handles anything requiring tools), but I managed to put this together during naptime with no major issues. Took maybe 20 minutes, which is a miracle considering some of the other kid furniture we’ve bought.
The desk is pretty sturdy – trust me, it’s been climbed on, jumped off of, and used as a fort more times than I can count. It’s held up really well so far. The pink and purple colors are bright but not too crazy, and they match her room pretty nicely. The plastic is thick and seems like it’ll last a while – definitely better quality than I expected for the price.
Is it perfect? No, nothing with kids ever is. Sometimes I wish it was a bit bigger as she gets older, and occasionally the storage compartments pop out if she pulls on them too hard. But compared to the flimsy table we had before, this is like night and day. Plus, my living room doesn’t look like an art supply store exploded anymore, which is a huge win in my book!
