I just upgraded my kitchen island with these rattan bar stools and honestly, I’m kinda obsessed! They’re this perfect 26″ counter height that fits so well with my kitchen island (which is about 36″ tall).
The rattan back is what really sold me – it’s not actual rattan but this PE woven material that looks pretty authentic but seems way more durable. The breathability is no joke either. I tend to hang out at my counter for hours sometimes working on my laptop, and I don’t get that sweaty back feeling I had with my old stools.
The boucle fabric on the seat is surprisingly comfy! To be fair, I was a bit worried it might be scratchy, but it’s actually quite soft. The seat cushion is wide enough (like 19.3″) that I don’t feel cramped, and the foam inside is pretty dense so you’re not sinking down after sitting for a while. There’s this curved back design that’s actually helped my posture a bit – I used to slouch terribly on my old bar stools.
As for sturdiness, these things are built better than I expected. The metal frame is thicker than my previous set from Target. They have this slightly angled design with a wider base, which makes them super stable. My husband is a bigger guy (about 280 pounds) and he feels totally secure on these. The brown powder coating on the metal matches our other kitchen fixtures and hasn’t shown any scratches yet, even though my kids aren’t exactly gentle with furniture.
The style works so well in our semi-bohemian kitchen – we have some plants hanging around and these stools with their natural vibe just tie everything together. They’d probably work in a bunch of different settings though. We use them at our kitchen island, but I could see these looking great in a home bar or even a small dining area.
Assembly wasn’t bad at all! It took me maybe 20 minutes for both stools, and I’m definitely not handy. Everything came in the box including the tools, which was nice since I can never find my screwdriver when I need it.
If you’re wondering about the specs, each stool is about 19.3″ wide by 20.5″ deep and 38.5″ high including the backrest. They’re not super heavy (like 17.5 pounds each) so I can move them around easily when I’m cleaning. The weight limit is supposedly 300 pounds per stool, which seems plenty for most people.
One thing I didn’t expect – they’re actually pretty easy to clean. My 5-year-old already managed to spill juice on one, and it wiped right off the boucle fabric with just a damp cloth.
