I finally found my dream camping chair, and honestly, I can’t believe it took me this long! This reclining model with the footrest has been a total game-changer for our family camping trips.
So I’ve been through probably 3 or 4 camping chairs over the years, and they’ve all been pretty disappointing – either too flimsy or just downright uncomfortable after an hour. This one though? It’s actually comfier than my living room recliner in some ways!
The adjustable backrest is probably my favorite feature. You can pretty much set it to any angle you want, which is perfect because my husband likes to sit more upright while I prefer to lean back and stargaze a bit. And that detachable footrest? Kind of genius. I don’t always use it, but after a long hike, being able to prop my feet up makes such a difference. The cotton cushion and pillow are nice touches too – definitely more comfortable than those bare fabric chairs everyone else brings.
The cooler bag has been surprisingly useful. To be fair, I thought it might be one of those gimmicky features that sounds good but isn’t practical. Nope! It actually holds quite a bit – I managed to fit 6 cans and some snacks in there during our last trip to the lake. Kept everything cold for a good 4-5 hours, which isn’t bad at all for a chair attachment.
I really appreciate all the little storage spaces. There’s a cup holder (obviously essential!), but also this side pocket where I keep my phone, sunscreen, and sometimes a small book. Oh, and they throw in this garbage bag which, weirdly enough, has been super handy for keeping our campsite clean.
Carrying it around is pretty easy too. It’s about 11 pounds, which isn’t the lightest chair out there, but considering all the features, it’s not too bad. It folds up to around 35 x 7 x 7 inches, so it fits in my trunk alongside all our other camping gear without hogging all the space. The carrying bag has held up well so far – the strap is actually padded, which my shoulder appreciates when walking from the parking lot to our campsite!
As for durability, we’ve had it for about 8 months now and it’s holding up great. The frame feels really solid (it’s made of alloy steel) and the Oxford fabric hasn’t shown any signs of tearing, even though my teenager isn’t exactly gentle with it. It claims to support up to 300 pounds, and my husband who’s around 260 sits in it comfortably with no issues or worrying creaks.
I didn’t expect the chair to be so versatile, but we’ve ended up taking it everywhere – camping trips, my son’s soccer games, beach days, and even just lounging in the backyard. For the price, I feel like I got way more than I paid for. It’s definitely the chair everyone fights over when we have friends over for barbecues!
