OK, so I finally got my hands on this READY ROCKER Deluxe Slate thing, and honestly? It’s been a total game-changer for my awful home office setup. I’ve been working from home for what feels like forever now, and my back was basically screaming at me every day until I tried this.
First off, the whole “transform any chair into a rocker” claim is actually legit. I was pretty skeptical, but it really does add this gentle rocking motion that somehow makes sitting through endless Zoom calls way more bearable. I’ve been using it on my dining chair (not exactly ergonomic, I know) and it’s made such a difference for my lower back pain. I’ve even dragged it out to the living room sofa during movie nights because, well, why not?
The Deluxe Cover is kind of luxurious, not gonna lie. It’s this slate-gray color that actually looks pretty nice with my somewhat mismatched furniture. The memory foam padding is the real deal – adds this extra cushiness that my old setup was definitely missing. And thank goodness it’s machine washable because I may or may not have spilled coffee on it already… twice.
What I really appreciate is that you can adjust it between two different rocking positions. I tend to slouch forward when I’m working (bad habit, I know), so I use the deeper setting most of the time. When I’m just chilling and watching Netflix, the shallower position works better with my couch. It’s pretty cool how it sort of forces my spine to align better – my chiropractor would probably be impressed!
The materials feel pretty solid too. At first I thought it might be one of those things that falls apart after a month, but the frame seems really sturdy despite being lightweight. The foam is soft but supportive – kind of reminds me of those fancy mattresses, but for your back. And it’s not too heavy either, only about 5 pounds, so I can easily move it around the house.
To be fair, it took me a day or two to get used to sitting on it. It’s definitely a different feeling if you’re not used to having proper back support! But after that initial adjustment period, I started noticing less tension in my shoulders and lower back. I’ve even brought it in the car for a longer road trip, which was way more comfortable than I expected.
The dimensions (16″ wide, 18″ high, and 6″ deep) fit pretty much everywhere I’ve tried it. It’s been great on my office chair, dining chairs, and even on the bed when I’m reading. I was worried it might not support me properly (I’m not exactly petite), but it seems to handle up to 250 pounds according to the specs, so no issues there.
One unexpected bonus? I babysit my sister’s little one sometimes, and the gentle rocking motion is super helpful for getting him to sleep. Definitely not what I bought it for, but hey, I’ll take any parenting hacks I can get!
Honestly, for anyone who sits a lot and deals with back pain, this thing is pretty great. It’s comfier than those weird lumbar pillows I’ve tried before, more versatile since you can move it around, and the rocking motion is surprisingly relaxing. My only regret is not getting one sooner!
