OK so after sitting at my desk for almost 8 hours every day (yep, desk job life!), my tailbone was absolutely killing me. I was honestly ready to try anything, which is how I ended up getting the QUTOOL seat cushion and lumbar pillow combo.
Let me tell you, this thing has been kind of a game changer for my work-from-home setup. The seat cushion has this U-shaped cutout that actually does take pressure off my tailbone – I didn’t expect that to work as well as it does! It’s definitely comfier than the cheap Amazon basics cushion I tried before this one.
The memory foam quality is pretty good – not too firm but not so soft that you sink right through it. I’ve had it for about 3 months now and it hasn’t flattened out at all, which was a problem with my old cushion. It does start off pretty firm when the room is cold (I noticed this on Monday mornings when I haven’t had the heat on all weekend), but it warms up with body heat after a few minutes.
One thing I really appreciate is that the cushion actually stays put on my chair. There’s this non-slip bottom that keeps it from sliding around, which was so annoying with other cushions I’ve tried. I’ve used it on my office chair, dining chair when I’m working at the table, and even brought it to a baseball game once (those bleachers are brutal!).
Cleaning it is super easy too – the cover has a zipper and you can just toss it in the washing machine. I honestly haven’t needed to clean the foam part yet, but the cover washes up fine.
The lumbar pillow is a nice bonus. It has these adjustable straps that fit around most chairs. To be fair, I don’t use it as much as the seat cushion, but when my back is really bothering me, it does provide some nice support.
Size-wise, the seat cushion is 18″ x 14″ x 3″ and the lumbar pillow is 13″ x 13″ x 4″. I got the black version and it looks fine – nothing fancy but not ugly either. The whole set is light enough (about 2.5 pounds total) that I can easily carry it between rooms.
I bought this for myself, but I’m thinking about getting one for my dad for Father’s Day. He drives a lot for work and is always complaining about his back.
