I finally took the plunge and got this NCKMYB queen murphy bed with a sofa, and honestly? It’s been a total game-changer for my tiny apartment. I’ve been looking for something like this for ages since my place is basically a glorified shoebox where I need every inch to count.
So this thing is pretty clever – during the day it’s just a nice grey sofa (fits me and my boyfriend comfortably), but then at night, you can pull it down and – boom – you’ve got a full queen bed. I was kind of worried it would be a pain to convert, but it’s actually super easy. You just unlock the cabinet, pull down the bed, and the legs pop out. The whole transition takes like 30 seconds, which is way faster than I expected!
The quality is definitely better than I thought it would be for something that, you know, folds into a wall. It’s made of this sturdy MDF and plywood combo, which sounds cheap but actually feels really solid. The grey fabric is pretty nice too – not luxury-level or anything, but soft enough and seems like it’ll hold up well. My cat has already tested its durability with her claws, and so far so good!
As for the specs, it’s about 87″ long by 67″ wide by 88″ high when it’s in cabinet form. The bed fits a standard queen mattress (up to 10″ thick, but mine is 8″ and works perfectly). The whole unit weighs like 226 pounds, so it’s definitely not something you’ll be moving around much once it’s set up. It can supposedly hold 600 pounds, which is plenty for me and my boyfriend, even after holiday eating season, haha!
Putting it together wasn’t exactly fun (is furniture assembly ever?), but it wasn’t nearly as bad as some IKEA nightmares I’ve had. Took about an hour and a half with my dad helping, and the instructions were surprisingly clear. I’d definitely recommend having someone help though – parts of it are pretty heavy.
The best part is how much space it saves. My “guest room” is also my home office and workout space, so being able to just fold the bed away when friends aren’t staying over is absolutely priceless. Before this, I had an old pull-out sofa that was honestly terrible to sleep on and took up way too much room.
The only slight downside is that you need to buy your own mattress, but that’s actually kind of nice because you can pick exactly what firmness you want. I went with a memory foam one that folds up easily with the bed.
Customer service seems pretty good too – I had a question about one of the parts during assembly and they got back to me really quickly.
All in all, if you’re tight on space but still want to have guests over (or just want a comfy bed that doesn’t eat up your entire living area), this thing is pretty awesome. It’s definitely not cheap, but considering it’s basically two pieces of furniture in one, I think it’s worth it!
