So, I finally bit the bullet and picked up this PURPLE LEAF patio set last month, and honestly? It’s been pretty great for our backyard makeover. We needed something that could handle our family gatherings (my in-laws are always dropping by), and this 9-piece set with 8 chairs and a big rectangular table has been just what we needed.
The whole thing is made with aluminum, which is actually way lighter than I expected. I was kind of worried about durability at first, but the powder coating seems pretty solid—we’ve had a couple of rain showers hit it already and there’s no sign of rust or anything. That was a huge relief since our last patio set started corroding after just one season.
The chair fabric is this Textilene material that dries super fast. We had a surprise downpour last weekend during our BBQ, and I was amazed that the chairs were basically dry within an hour. Not bad at all! And they don’t get that gross mildewy smell that our old cushions used to have.
One thing I really love—these chairs actually recline! They have five different positions, which is pretty awesome when you’re switching from eating dinner to just hanging out with a drink afterward. My husband is tall and always complains about patio furniture, but he’s found a couple angles that work really well for him. To be fair, I mostly keep mine in the middle position, but it’s nice having options.
The folding feature has been a lifesaver too. We had a big storm warning last week, and I was able to quickly fold everything up and store it in the garage in like 10 minutes. Each chair only weighs about 11 pounds, so even I can move them around without help. That’s been a game-changer compared to our old heavy wrought iron set.
Style-wise, we went with the black, and it looks pretty sharp against our wooden deck. It’s got this minimalist vibe that works with pretty much anything. I was torn between this and a wicker set, but I think this looks cleaner and more modern. The table is a good size too—we’ve had 8 people comfortably eating dinner around it.
The whole thing weighs under 20 pounds altogether, which seems crazy for a 9-piece set. The table is about 71 inches long by 35 inches wide, so it’s pretty spacious. When you fold the chairs, they get super skinny—less than 6 inches deep—making storage so much easier than I thought it would be.
Assembly wasn’t too bad either. My teenager actually helped me put it together, which is saying something since he usually disappears when there’s any kind of work to be done!
If you’re looking for something durable that doesn’t look cheap, this has been pretty solid for us. It’s definitely an upgrade from the budget set we used to have from the big box store. And the fact that it’s recyclable makes me feel a little better about my pandemic-era online shopping habits!
