I’ve been on the hunt for a good desk chair for my home office setup for ages, and honestly, I was getting pretty tired of those typical wheeled office chairs that just don’t fit my vibe. That’s when I stumbled across this PUKAMI Criss Cross Chair, and I’ve gotta say, it’s been a game-changer for my workspace!
First off, the look of this chair is just so much more stylish than what I was used to. The criss-cross design with that black aluminum base gives it this modern feel that actually looks nice in my room—not like some clunky office furniture. I was a bit worried about not having wheels, but the rubber feet are actually great. My hardwood floors haven’t gotten a single scratch, and the chair stays put when I need it to.
The seat is seriously wide—like, 20 inches wide! I’m the type who likes to sit cross-legged sometimes or shift around a lot during the day, and this chair totally lets me do that. The padding is pretty thick too, about 4 inches of foam that hasn’t flattened out even though I’ve been using it daily for a few weeks now. The beige fabric feels nice and breathable—kind of like a good quality twill that doesn’t make me sweaty during long work sessions.
What really surprised me was how sturdy this thing is. I’m not exactly a lightweight person, but the chair handles my weight without any issues. The gas lift is apparently certified to support up to 350 pounds, which explains why it feels so solid. Adjusting the height is super simple, and I love that I can get it just right for my desk.
The back support is probably one of my favorite features. It has this U-shaped design that somehow manages to hit all the right spots on my back. I used to get these annoying aches after sitting for too long, but that hasn’t been nearly as bad with this chair. The ergonomics are actually legit, not just marketing talk.
Setting it up wasn’t a big deal either—took me maybe 15 minutes tops. Everything came in the box, and the instructions were clear enough that I didn’t end up with any mysterious extra parts (which happens to me more often than I’d like to admit with furniture assembly!).
I do find myself using the tilt function more than I expected. Being able to lean back between 108° and 130° is pretty nice when I’m taking a break from typing to think or just scrolling through my phone. The tension adjustment knob under the seat is a nice touch too—I’ve got it set just right so I can lean back without feeling like I’m going to tip over.
For context, I’ve tried one of those fancy ergonomic chairs at my friend’s place that cost like three times as much, and honestly? This PUKAMI chair is more comfortable for my body type. It fits perfectly at my desk, but I’ve also pulled it over to my window nook for reading, and it works great there too.
Overall dimensions are about 20″W x 22″D x 31-36″H depending on how you adjust it, and the seat itself is 20″W x 18″D, which is roomy enough for pretty much anyone. The backrest is 16″ high—not super tall, but it supports the mid-back area where I needed it most.
If you’re looking for something that doesn’t scream “boring office chair” but still gives you the comfort for long work sessions, this might be worth checking out. It’s been a pretty solid addition to my home setup.
