Portable Folding Camping Chair

So I finally found this little gem for my camping trips – the Eureka! Camp Stool. Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much from such a basic-looking chair, but it’s been pretty awesome so far!
The thing is built with this alloy steel frame that feels way sturdier than it looks. I’m not exactly lightweight (though I’m well under the 250-pound limit, thank you very much), and it handles my weight without even a creak. The seat is made of polyester with this kind of faux leather finish that’s actually quite nice – definitely better than that scratchy material on my old camping chairs.
What really sold me was how portable this thing is. It’s super light – about 1.5 pounds or so (though the packaging says 1 pound, 8 ounces which seems more accurate). I can just throw it over my shoulder with the carrying strap and forget it’s there. To be fair, that’s exactly what I need when I’m already lugging around a cooler and all my other camping gear.
Size-wise, it’s kind of perfect – not too big, not too small. When set up, it’s about 13 by 13 inches and stands around 18.5 inches tall. It folds down to this skinny little package that’s roughly 24 by 3 by 3 inches. I can easily tuck it into my trunk alongside all my other stuff, which is a huge plus compared to my bulky folding chairs.
The triangular shape is actually pretty smart design-wise. I used it at a state park last weekend on some pretty uneven ground, and it didn’t wobble at all. I’ve been taking it everywhere lately – tailgating at my kid’s soccer games, backyard get-togethers, even brought it to a parade downtown when all the good spots with benches were taken.
I kind of love that it’s made in the USA too. Eureka! has apparently been around for like 120 years making camping stuff, which I didn’t know until I got this chair.
This little stool is surprisingly versatile. I’ve used it for just chilling by the fire, but it’s also handy when I’m prepping food at the campsite (beats crouching on the ground!). It held up great when we got caught in a drizzle during our last camping trip – dried super quick too.
