Plow & Hearth Hanging Rope Hammock Chair

I finally caved and bought the Plow & Hearth Hanging Rope Hammock Chair after seeing it all over Instagram, and honestly? Best decision I’ve made for my backyard setup in ages.
This thing is so comfy! It’s made from this cotton/polyester string combo that feels really nice against your skin but doesn’t seem like it’ll fall apart after one summer (unlike my last hammock, ugh). It’s surprisingly sturdy too – it can hold up to 350 pounds, which is pretty impressive for something that only weighs like 1.5 pounds itself.
Size-wise, it’s about 24 inches wide by 36 inches long, which is actually perfect for me. I’m not exactly petite, but I can curl up in it no problem. The open weave is kind of genius because you don’t get all sweaty when it’s hot out – there’s this nice breeze that comes through. And the way it sort of molds to your body? So much better than my stiff patio chairs!
I hung mine from the big oak tree in my backyard, and it was super easy to set up. It comes with an S-hook and all the hanging hardware you need. The hook is steel and seems pretty rust-resistant, which is good because I’m terrible at remembering to bring stuff in when it rains. Just FYI, you’ll need your own stand if you don’t have a tree or beam to hang it from.
One thing to note – it doesn’t come with any pillows, which was fine by me since I had some outdoor cushions that match my patio furniture anyway. I’ve thrown in a small pillow and a light blanket, and it’s basically my new favorite spot to read or scroll through my phone.
The polycotton material seems pretty durable, though I’m trying to be good about not leaving it out in heavy rain. To be fair, I’ve forgotten a couple times and it dried out just fine.
I’ve actually started drinking my morning coffee in it instead of at the kitchen table – there’s something so peaceful about gently swinging while waking up. My neighbor liked mine so much she got one for her covered porch as a little meditation spot. It definitely has that boho vibe without trying too hard, you know?
