Okay, so I’ve been using this OXO Tot Sprout High Chair in Orange/Black for a few months now, and honestly? It’s been a game-changer for mealtimes with my little one. I mean, when I first got it, I was kind of skeptical – it looked pretty sleek, but I wasn’t sure if it would live up to the hype, you know?
First things first, this thing is built to last. It’s got this solid beech wood frame that feels way sturdier than our old plastic high chair. And the orange and black color combo? It’s actually pretty stylish – doesn’t stick out like a sore thumb in our dining room, which is a nice bonus.
Now, let’s talk about the whole “grows with your kid” thing. I was worried it might be a gimmick, but it’s legit. My daughter’s only 18 months, but I can already see how this chair’s gonna work for her for years. The seat adjusts without any tools (thank goodness, because who has time for that?), and there’s this footrest that moves too. It’s pretty cool how it can turn into a regular chair later on – definitely beats buying a whole new setup when she outgrows the high chair stage.
Safety-wise, it’s not bad at all. The 5-point harness keeps my little escape artist firmly in place, even when she’s in full wiggle mode. And the tray? Oh man, it’s a lifesaver. It’s got this lip that catches spills – I swear it’s saved my floor from looking like a food warzone more times than I can count. Plus, it pops right in the dishwasher, which is a huge win in my book.
I gotta say, though, the cushions are probably my favorite part. They’re super easy to wipe down (because let’s face it, kids are messy eaters), and they seem pretty comfy. My daughter doesn’t fuss about sitting in it, which is more than I can say for our old chair.
Now, it’s not all sunshine and rainbows. This chair is a bit on the heavy side – about 28 pounds, I think? So it’s not something you’re gonna want to move around a lot. And while the orange is fun, I kinda wish they had more color options. But honestly, these are pretty minor gripes in the grand scheme of things.
Oh, and assembling it? Way easier than I expected. The packaging was actually decent (no frustration-induced swearing, which is always a plus), and it came together pretty quick. I think it took me maybe 20 minutes tops?
All in all, I’d say this high chair is pretty solid. It’s comfier than our old one, seems like it’ll last forever, and it doesn’t make our dining room look like a daycare center. If you’re in the market for a high chair that’ll grow with your kid and won’t drive you nuts with constant cleaning, this OXO Tot Sprout might be worth checking out. Just be prepared for a bit of sticker shock – it’s not the cheapest option out there, but in my opinion, it’s worth the investment.
