So I finally got my hands on this oversized egg chair I’ve been eyeing for ages, and honestly? It’s pretty much everything I was hoping for!
The egg shape is super cute and actually way more comfortable than I expected. Like, you kind of sink into it in the best way possible. The rocking motion is really nice too – not too wild (only goes to about 30° which is perfect), so you don’t feel like you’re going to tip over or anything. I was a bit worried about that since my last rocking chair was kind of sketchy, but this one feels really secure.
The frame seems pretty solid – it’s made with alloy steel and has this handwoven rattan covering that gives it a beachy, boho vibe I’m totally into right now. What’s cool is that they powder-coated the steel so it’s waterproof and doesn’t rust. I’ve had it outside during a light drizzle and it held up fine, though I’m not brave enough to leave it out in a downpour or anything!
The cushion is honestly the best part. It’s this thick polyester velvet that’s way softer than I thought it would be. I’m talking 4 inches of cushy goodness! I can sit in this thing for hours binge-watching my shows without getting uncomfortable. My old papasan chair from college would give me back pain after like 30 minutes, but this one? Total game-changer.
I was a bit concerned about the rattan holding up outdoors since my mom had some rattan furniture that faded super fast, but so far the beige color has stayed pretty true even in direct sunlight. The whole chair has this bohemian look that works surprisingly well with my other patio furniture, which is more modern.
Size-wise, it’s pretty big – about 43.7″ deep, 37.2″ wide, and 31.5″ high. Definitely roomier than I expected! I’m not a small person and I can curl up in it comfortably with plenty of space for a blanket and my dog (who, by the way, has claimed this as her new favorite spot too). It can supposedly hold up to 350 pounds, which seems believable given how sturdy it feels.
I’ve been using it both on my covered porch and occasionally dragging it into my living room when I have friends over. It’s kind of heavy (around 45 pounds I think), but not impossible to move around. Assembly wasn’t bad at all – took me maybe 20 minutes while I was half-watching TV.
The only downside is that the cushion can get a bit dirty if you’re not careful, but to be fair, it cleans up pretty easily with just a damp cloth. I’m thinking about getting a cover for when it’s not in use, just to keep it looking fresh.
All in all, if you’re looking for a statement piece that’s actually comfortable and versatile enough for indoor or outdoor use, this chair is definitely worth checking out!
