I’ve gotta say, this oversized rocking camping chair has been a total game-changer for my outdoor adventures!
So I finally caved and bought one of these after my old camping chair collapsed during a music festival last summer (not my finest moment, honestly). This thing is seriously roomy—like 24 inches wide with a 20-inch deep seat. Perfect for someone who likes to spread out a bit, ya know? And it can handle up to 400 pounds, which is pretty impressive. My buddy who’s a bigger guy tried it out and felt totally secure, which was a relief.
The high back is what sold me though. It’s about 29 inches tall with this padded support that cradles your whole upper body—shoulders, neck, everything. And the mesh back? Absolute lifesaver during our camping trip last month when temperatures hit the high 80s. I was sitting there feeling the breeze while my friends were basically melting in their solid-backed chairs.
I’m kind of obsessed with how sturdy this thing is. The frame is this thick alloy steel that doesn’t wobble or tip like my cheap old chair did. It’s powder-coated too, which is good because I accidentally left it out overnight during a light rain and there wasn’t a spot of rust. The fabric is this heavy-duty polyester that feels like it’ll last forever—definitely tougher than it looks!
The hard armrests are actually way better than I expected. To be fair, I was worried they’d be uncomfortable, but they’re shaped nicely and make getting in and out super easy, especially when I’m juggling a plate of food and a drink.
Speaking of drinks—the cup holder on the left armrest is deep enough for my big 32 oz water bottle, which is kind of rare for camping chairs. There’s also this handy side pocket on the right that I use for my phone and snacks. It’s not massive but fits the essentials.
Probably my favorite part? The whole rocking chair thing! After a long hike, being able to gently rock by the campfire is weirdly therapeutic. It’s comfier than my actual living room furniture in some ways!
Folding it up is pretty foolproof—takes like 10 seconds, no assembly required. When packed up, it’s about 35 inches long and fits in this carrying bag it comes with. It does weigh around 16 pounds, which isn’t exactly ultralight, but the shoulder strap makes it manageable for short walks from the car.
I’ve used it for camping, obviously, but also for my kid’s soccer games, backyard BBQs, and even brought it to the beach once (though cleaning sand out afterward was a bit of a pain).
One weird thing—the manual that came with mine said it only supports 300 pounds, but apparently that’s outdated info. The company assured me it’s tested for 400 pounds, so that’s cool.
If you’re tired of uncomfortable, flimsy camping chairs that fall apart after one season, you might want to check this one out. My back certainly thanks me every time I use it!
