I finally found my perfect beach companion—the Ostrich 3N1 chair in that nice blue color. Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I ordered it, but wow, this thing has completely changed my beach days!
The face-down lounging feature is seriously genius. I’m someone who loves reading at the beach, and I used to get the worst neck cramps trying to prop myself up on regular chairs. This chair has this cool open/close face cavity with arm slots that lets me lie face-down comfortably for like, an hour straight without any discomfort. The mesh fabric dries super quick too, which is pretty important when you’re as clumsy as me and constantly spilling drinks!
The adjustability is probably my favorite part. There are 5 different chair positions and 3 footrest positions, so I can switch between sitting up to chat with friends and lying flat to soak up some sun. To be fair, I was worried it might feel flimsy when adjusting between positions, but it’s actually really sturdy.
It sits about 12 inches off the ground, which doesn’t sound like much, but trust me, it makes a huge difference when you’re trying to get up with sandy legs! The backrest is nice and high (32 inches) which is great for my tall frame—way better support than my old beach chair that barely reached my shoulders.
I kind of love the little extras they thought of—there’s a cup holder that’s actually deep enough to keep my drinks from tipping over (learned that lesson the hard way with my previous chair), and the wooden armrests are these wide 3-inch ones that feel more substantial than the skinny metal ones you usually get.
For something so sturdy, it’s surprisingly lightweight—only 9.5 pounds! I can easily carry it from the car to my spot on the beach without breaking a sweat. The aluminum frame has held up really well against the salty air at my local beach, definitely more durable than the cheaper chair my husband bought that started rusting after just one season.
I was a bit concerned about the weight limit since some portable chairs can be iffy, but this one holds up to 275 pounds, which gives me plenty of confidence. The UV-resistant fabric is holding its color nicely too—I’ve had it for two summers now and it still looks pretty much brand new.
When folded up, it’s compact enough to fit in my tiny car trunk along with all our other beach gear. The padded carry strap is a thoughtful touch—much more comfortable than the plastic ones that dig into your shoulders.
If you’re on the fence between this and a cheaper option, honestly, just spend the extra money. I’ve gone through three budget chairs in the time I would’ve just had this one quality chair. It’s comfier than my living room recliner sometimes—I’ve actually brought it out for backyard stargazing too!
