I honestly didn’t think I’d be so impressed when I finally took the plunge and bought these Okeysen rattan chairs for our dining area. After weeks of obsessively comparing different options (my partner was getting pretty annoyed, not gonna lie), these mid-century beauties won me over, and I’m so glad they did!
First off, the rattan cane backrest is the real deal – 100% natural and hand-woven. It gives our somewhat basic dining area this kind of literary, vintage vibe that I was hoping for. The mesh design isn’t just for looks either – it’s actually super breathable, which is pretty nice during those long dinner conversations when you’re stuck sitting for hours. The rounded edges are a nice touch too – gives the chairs this warm, inviting feel that works with pretty much everything we already had.
The seat is way comfier than I expected! It’s covered in this PU leather that feels surprisingly soft and smooth (definitely not that cheap, plasticky stuff I was worried about). There’s plenty of foam padding inside – firm enough to support you but still really comfortable. We had friends over for a game night that ran like 5 hours long, and nobody complained about uncomfortable chairs, which is saying something! Plus, I accidentally spilled some wine on one chair, and it wiped right off – total win for someone clumsy like me.
Style-wise, these chairs are kind of perfect if you’re into that mid-century modern look without going full-on retro. The black metal legs give them this contemporary edge that balances out the vintage rattan. We got the natural rattan with black cushions, but I was tempted by the white ones too. They just have this versatile vibe that would work with almost any décor style – definitely more interesting than the boring chairs they replaced!
These things are built better than I expected for the price point. Each chair can apparently hold up to 300 lbs, which seems pretty solid. Size-wise, they’re about 18.5″ wide, 22″ deep, and 32″ high, with an 18″ seat height that fits perfectly with our standard dining table. The chairs aren’t too heavy either – maybe 12 pounds each – so I can easily move them around when I’m vacuuming. Oh, and they have these little non-slip pads on the legs that actually work! Our last chairs were constantly scratching up the hardwood.
Putting them together wasn’t bad at all. The package came with two chairs, all the hardware, and pretty clear instructions. It took me maybe 15-20 minutes per chair, and I’m definitely not the handiest person. My husband was shocked I didn’t call him for help, honestly.
We’ve been using these chairs in our dining area for about a month now, but I could totally see them working in a home office or even as accent chairs in a living room. They don’t take up too much space, which is great for our somewhat cramped apartment.
The customer service seems decent too – there’s apparently a 1-year warranty, though I haven’t had to test that out. One chair had a tiny scratch when it arrived, but honestly, it was so minor I didn’t even bother reaching out.
