Ohashi Shinji Shoten Animal Chair, 21.3 x 9.4 x 10.2 inches

I just got my hands on this Ohashi Shinji Shoten Animal Chair, and honestly, it’s kind of the cutest little thing ever! It’s pretty compact at 21.3 x 9.4 x 10.2 inches, which is actually smaller than I expected, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing since it fits perfectly in that awkward corner of my apartment.
The chair has this adorable nofoho face that totally adds some personality to my living space. It’s super light too—only weighs about 5 pounds or so—which means I can easily move it around whenever I feel like changing things up (which, to be fair, happens pretty often).
One thing to note is that there’s no backrest, which I was a bit unsure about at first, but it’s actually not bad at all for casual seating. I’ve been using it both for myself when I’m just chilling and reading, and my nephew absolutely loves it when he comes over.
The wooden frame feels pretty sturdy, and it can supposedly hold up to 176 pounds, which seems impressive for such a small chair! I’m nowhere near that weight, but it feels solid when I sit on it. The polyurethane seat is way comfier than my old ottoman—it’s soft but still supportive, and I didn’t expect that! Plus, it’s super easy to wipe clean when I inevitably spill my coffee.
I initially bought it thinking it’d just be for decoration, but I’ve found myself actually using it quite a bit. It works really well in my small apartment where space is at a premium. I kind of wish they made a slightly larger version, but for what it is, it’s pretty darn cute and functional.
If you’ve got kids, they’ll probably go crazy for this thing. Mine’s shipped from China and the quality is decent for something this quirky and affordable. Great little addition if you want something fun that doesn’t scream “boring adult furniture”!
