I’ve been using the Inglesina Fast Table Chair in black for about 6 months now, and honestly, it’s been a game-changer for our family mealtimes. I was getting tired of those bulky high chairs taking up space in our dining room, so I decided to try this clip-on style chair I’d seen at a friend’s house.
Right off the bat, the whole family bonding thing is real. My little guy (he’s 14 months) seems way more engaged at dinner when he’s sitting right at the table with us instead of off to the side in a traditional high chair. It’s kind of neat watching him try to copy what we’re doing—definitely gives those Montessori vibes they mention. The black color is pretty sleek too—goes with our dining room without screaming “baby stuff everywhere!”
The portability factor is what sold me, to be fair. This thing is super light—only about 4 pounds—and folds up pretty compact. We’ve taken it to restaurants a bunch of times (beats those gross wooden high chairs that haven’t been cleaned since 2010), and I’ve even brought it to my in-laws’ place for Sunday dinners. The clamps are solid and grip tables up to 3.5 inches thick. I was worried about damaging our table, but the clamps have this protective coating that hasn’t left any marks so far.
Setting it up is ridiculously easy. Like, 30-seconds-and-you’re-done kind of easy. No tools, no fuss—just twist the clamps tight, and you’re good to go. This has been a lifesaver when we’re out and the baby’s already getting hangry.
As for comfort, it seems pretty good for my little one. The padding is thicker than I expected, and the back support is higher than similar chairs I looked at. My son has never complained about sitting in it, which is saying something since he lets us know when he’s not happy! The fabric feels durable too—we’ve had some epic spaghetti disasters that wiped clean pretty easily.
Safety-wise, it’s got this three-point harness that keeps my wiggle monster secured. I didn’t expect that level of security from a portable chair, but it makes me feel better about using it. The steel frame feels sturdy, and even though my son is only about 22 pounds now, it’s nice knowing it’ll hold him until he hits 37 pounds.
One thing I really appreciate is the little storage pocket on the back. I usually stuff a couple of baby wipes and a small toy in there—perfect for restaurant emergencies! The seat cover comes off for washing, which has been necessary more times than I’d like to admit (pureed carrots everywhere, anyone?).
I’m thinking about getting their separate food tray that attaches to it. My sister has it and says it’s worth it for containing the mess, especially with a cup holder built in. Would definitely make cleanup easier.
For what it’s worth, I did a fair bit of research before buying anything from Inglesina, and they’ve been making baby stuff for like 60 years, which is reassuring. The chair isn’t the cheapest option out there, but it’s comfier than those basic fabric clip-ons and seems like it’ll last through multiple kids if we have them.
All in all, this chair has made restaurant outings and family dinners at home way less stressful. Definitely one of those baby purchases that’s actually worth the money.
