So I’ve been on the hunt for a decent office chair that won’t kill my back or my wallet, and I finally took the plunge on this Furmax mesh chair. Honestly? It’s pretty darn good for what you’re paying.
The first thing I noticed was how it’s actually designed with your body in mind. It’s got these dual lumbar supports that kind of cradle your lower back—feels almost like someone’s supporting your waist with their hands, which is weirdly nice after sitting for hours answering emails. The seat has this slight dip to it that distributes your weight better than my old flat chair. My back doesn’t feel like death at the end of the day anymore, so that’s a huge win!
The cushion is definitely thicker than I expected. Most office chairs I’ve tried feel like you’re sitting on cardboard after an hour, but this one has this dense spongy cushion that’s held up pretty well so far. And the mesh material? Total game-changer if you tend to get sweaty (like me) during long work sessions. I was skeptical about mesh seats being comfortable, but the three-layer thing they’ve got going—wood core, sponge middle, and mesh cover—works surprisingly well.
The build quality isn’t half bad either. I was kind of worried it would feel cheap, but the frame seems solid enough. The base is this plastic-metal combo that feels stable—they mention it’s BIMIFA certified, whatever that means, but it doesn’t wobble, so I’m happy. It handles my 220 pounds just fine (they say it can go up to 240). Oh, and the wheels! They roll super smoothly on my hardwood floors without leaving marks, which my landlord would definitely appreciate.
I love that I can adjust pretty much everything. The height adjustment is straightforward—just a handle on the right that lets you go from about 17.7 to 21.7 inches. There’s also this tilt feature that lets you lean back when you need to stare at the ceiling and contemplate life decisions. It swivels all the way around too, which is weirdly satisfying and occasionally useful when I need to grab something behind me.
Specs-wise, it’s about what you’d expect—metal frame, mesh seat and back, weighs around 20.5 pounds. It’s roughly 23.6 inches wide and deep, and the height adjusts between 44.1 and 48.1 inches. Not the biggest chair out there, but it fits my average-sized desk setup perfectly.
I work from home most days, and this chair has been a good fit for those 8-hour stretches. My old IKEA chair used to leave me with a numb butt after 3 hours, to be fair. This one’s definitely an upgrade for anyone doing serious computer work or gaming marathons.
One tip if you get this—when you’re putting it together, don’t tighten anything until you’ve got all the pieces in place. I made that mistake and had to backtrack because things weren’t lining up. Loosely attach everything first, then tighten all the screws at the end.
All in all, it’s been pretty good for my posture (my chiropractor might be losing business), it’s comfortable enough for long sessions, and it feels like it’ll last a while. For the price? Can’t really complain.
