Oh man, I finally got my hands on the Frogstomp 20th Anniversary Edition, and honestly? It’s kind of blowing my mind right now. This three-disc set is seriously the real deal for any Silverchair fan. I’ve been waiting for something like this forever!
The packaging is pretty impressive – it’s got this nice embossed cover that just feels premium, you know? Inside you get two CDs and a DVD that works on pretty much any player. The original album sounds so much better with the remastering – I was actually surprised at how much clearer everything sounds compared to my old worn-out copy from back in the day.
Remember when this album first dropped in ’95? I still can’t believe it was the first Australian debut to hit #1 on the ARIA charts! That’s crazy impressive. The fact that it went platinum in just a week and ended up selling over 2.5 million copies worldwide? Not bad at all for these Aussie teenagers!
The bonus disc is where things get really interesting for collectors like me. There are these rare tracks and demos I’ve never heard before, and it’s kind of fascinating to hear their early creative process. I was playing “Israel’s Son” the other day and my roommate was like, “What’s this?” Can you believe some people still haven’t heard this album?
To be fair, the DVD might be my favorite part. The music videos look great, but that live concert from Newcastle in ’95? Pure gold! Young Daniel Johns and the guys just absolutely rocking out with this raw energy that’s honestly hard to find these days. It’s comfier than my old concert VHS tapes, that’s for sure!
Size-wise, it’s just your standard CD case dimensions, nothing special there – about 5.6 x 4.9 x 0.5 inches and barely weighs anything at 6.4 ounces. But hey, it’s what’s inside that counts, right?
I’ve been playing this thing non-stop since I got it. It’s perfect for when I’m feeling nostalgic or when I want to show my younger friends what real 90s alternative rock sounded like. The tri-fold case is holding up pretty well too, even though I’ve opened it like a million times already.
