I’ve been absolutely loving my new folding deckchair this summer! Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I ordered it, but it’s turned out to be one of my best purchases this year.
So I got this lightweight folding chair mainly for my small balcony, but I’ve been taking it everywhere – camping trips, beach days, you name it. The aluminum and steel frame is surprisingly sturdy but still light enough (around 17.6 lbs) that I can easily toss it in my trunk without throwing my back out. Trust me, it’s way easier to lug around than my old camping chair that weighed a ton!
The coolest thing about this chair is probably all the different padding options it comes with. There’s this ice silk summer mat that’s been a lifesaver during our heatwave (so much better than my plastic patio chairs that stick to your legs!), a suede cotton pad that feels pretty cozy, and a thick pearl cotton option that’s honestly comfier than my couch at home. You can switch them out depending on the weather, which is pretty neat.
I’m kind of impressed by how adjustable it is too. The zero gravity design actually works – when I recline back, it takes all the pressure off my lower back, which has been acting up lately. You can lock it at pretty much any angle from sitting straight up to almost completely flat. The other day I fell asleep in it while reading on my balcony – wasn’t planning on a nap, but it happened!
The chair holds up to 330 lbs, which is plenty for me and occasionally my boyfriend who’s on the taller side. We’ve both used it without any wobbling or feeling like it might give way. The Oxford cloth material seems decent quality too – I spilled some wine on it last weekend (oops!) and it wiped right off.
When folded up, it’s not bad at all for storage – takes up about 38.6 x 5.7 x 26.4 inches of space, which fits behind my bedroom door. When opened, it’s a good size at 70 x 26 x 9.8 inches – enough room to stretch out but not so massive that it overwhelms my small balcony.
To be fair, I probably should bring it inside when it rains (the instructions recommend it), but I’ve left it out overnight a few times and it seems fine so far. The frame is corrosion-resistant apparently, though I’m not planning to test that too much.
For anyone wondering about setup – it’s literally just unfolding it. No tools, no frustrating assembly, which was a huge relief after struggling with IKEA furniture all month.
