I’ve been using this one-legged camping stool for about three months now, and honestly, it’s been a game-changer for my outdoor adventures. I grabbed it mainly for fishing trips, but I’ve ended up taking it practically everywhere!
So this little gadget is basically a telescopic folding stool that’s surprisingly versatile. I’ve used it hiking, fishing, at picnics, and even while waiting in line during summer sales (yeah, I’m that person now, lol). What really got me was how ridiculously lightweight it is while still feeling pretty solid.
The height adjustment is actually pretty neat – it’s got these three different settings between 15 and 18 inches. I’m on the taller side, so I usually keep it at the max height, but my wife prefers it lower. Kind of nice to have options depending on where you’re sitting too.
The seat is made from this Oxford fiber and nylon combo which, to be fair, I was skeptical about at first. But it’s honestly held up really well – doesn’t get all weird and deformed like my last portable chair did. Plus, it dries super quick, which has been a lifesaver when I’ve been out fishing and accidentally set it down on damp ground (happens more than I’d like to admit!).
The aluminum frame is probably my favorite part though. My old camping chair was this bulky steel thing that I’d always end up leaving in the car because it was such a pain to carry. This one is just 1.44 pounds – lighter than my water bottle! When folded up, it’s barely over 2 inches wide and about 15 inches tall, so it fits right into my backpack. It comes with this little storage bag too, which is handy.
I didn’t expect the one-legged design to be all that stable, but the triangular structure actually works pretty well. I’m about 220 pounds and it holds me no problem – supposedly supports up to 330 pounds. It’s definitely more stable than I thought it would be, though you do have to balance a bit (not ideal if you’ve had a few beers around the campfire, just saying).
The maintenance is basically non-existent too. After a muddy hiking trip, I just wiped it down with a wet cloth and it looked good as new. The aluminum doesn’t seem to rust either, which is a huge plus compared to my old gear.
I went with the black one, but my buddy has the green and it looks pretty sharp too. Size-wise, when it’s fully open, the seat is about 10 inches across – not exactly a La-Z-Boy, but comfy enough for taking breaks.
If you’re an outdoorsy type or just someone who hates standing in lines (me!), this thing is definitely worth picking up. It’s comfier than sitting on rocks or standing around, and way more practical than those bulky camping chairs that take up half your trunk. Not perfect, but for the weight and size, it’s pretty hard to beat!
