My Gaming Floor Chair Revolution – Serious Sound in a Foldable Package!
Okay, so I finally bit the bullet and got myself one of those gaming floor chairs with built-in speakers, and honestly? It’s been kind of a game-changer for my tiny apartment setup. I’ve been using it for about two weeks now for pretty much everything – gaming sessions, Netflix binges, and even just chilling with some music.
The first thing that struck me was that it came completely assembled – thank goodness! I’m terrible with instructions and was dreading some complicated setup, but I literally just unfolded it and was good to go. That’s a huge win in my book.
Sound-wise, I was pretty skeptical about those 3-inch speakers, but they’re actually not bad at all! The audio is surprisingly rich for something built into a chair. I’ve been connecting it to my PS5 via Bluetooth, and the connection has been pretty stable – way better than those cheap wireless headphones I was using before. You can plug stuff in with a regular headphone cable too, which I’ve done a few times when the Bluetooth was being finicky after a long gaming session.
The comfort factor is definitely there. The foam padding is thick enough that I don’t feel the floor underneath, even after sitting for way too long (like that time I lost track and played Elden Ring for 5 hours straight – my back wasn’t even mad at me!). It’s definitely comfier than my old desk chair, though I wouldn’t say it’s like sitting on a cloud or anything.
I really love how it folds up when I’m not using it. My apartment is tiny, so being able to just collapse it down and slide it under my bed is perfect. It’s about 31.5″ x 17″ x 5.5″ when folded, which means it takes up practically no space. It’s still got some weight to it though – about 19 pounds – so it’s not super light, but there’s a handle that makes it easy enough to move around.
The fabric covering is pretty good quality – some kind of polyester that feels nice and hasn’t shown any wear yet. I accidentally spilled some soda on it (classic me), and it wiped clean really easily. The whole thing feels sturdy enough and supposedly supports up to 250 pounds, which seems right based on how solid it feels.
One thing I wasn’t expecting was how low it sits to the ground. It’s great for my setup where I have my TV mounted kind of low on the wall, but if your TV is up high, you might end up with a bit of neck strain. To be fair, I’ve gotten used to the reclined position, and it’s actually perfect for those long gaming sessions.
The control panel on the side is handy for adjusting volume without reaching for my controller, though I wish the buttons were a bit bigger sometimes when I’m fumbling around in the dark during movie nights.
For the price, I’d say it’s pretty good value, especially compared to some of those super expensive gaming chairs that don’t even have speakers. It’s been perfect for my small space and definitely makes gaming sessions feel more immersive.
