Okay, so I’ve gotta tell you about this Fisher-Price SpaceSaver high chair thing I just got for my little one. It’s pretty cool, honestly. I mean, we live in this tiny apartment, right? And I was kinda freaking out about where we’d put a big ol’ high chair. But this SpaceSaver is, well, a space saver! It’s like half the size of those clunky traditional ones.
So, it’s this Windmill design – which is actually pretty cute and goes with our stuff. It’s not huge or anything – about 23.5 inches long, 17.5 wide, and 22 high when it’s all set up. And get this – it only weighs like 8.5 pounds! I can actually pick it up and move it around without throwing my back out, which is a nice change.
The thing’s pretty sturdy too. It’s made of this BPA-free plastic (because, you know, we’re all paranoid about that stuff now), and it’s got some steel parts in there too. My kid’s not exactly gentle, but this chair can handle up to 50 pounds, so we’re good for a while.
What I really dig is how it grows with the kid, you know? It starts as a high chair for when they’re tiny – like 6 months old – and then you can use it as a booster seat when they’re bigger, up to about 3 years. That’s pretty sweet, ’cause who wants to buy a whole new thing every few months?

Now, let’s talk about the mess factor. ‘Cause kids, am I right? This thing is actually pretty easy to clean up. The seat, tray, and this extra tray insert thing all go in the dishwasher. It’s like magic. The tray’s pretty deep too – 12 inches wide and 8 inches deep – so it catches a lot of the food before it ends up on the floor (or in my hair).
The seat pad is made of this soft polyester stuff that you can just throw in the washing machine. Same with the safety harness. And speaking of that harness – it’s got five points when they’re little, but you can switch it to three points as they get older. It’s like it’s childproofed and babyproofed at the same time.
I gotta say, I was skeptical about how comfy it would be, but my kid seems to like it. The seat’s all cushioned, and she sits up there happy as a clam. And the tray? You can pop it off with one hand, which is clutch when you’re juggling a squirmy toddler and a plate of spaghetti.
One thing that’s pretty cool is how it kind of helps with development stuff. My little one feels all grown up sitting at the table with us, and I swear she’s getting better at using utensils just from being at eye level. Plus, the design supposedly helps with posture and all that jazz.
Look, I’m not gonna say it’s perfect. Nothing is when you’ve got a kid, right? But for what it is – a compact, versatile high chair that doesn’t take up half the kitchen – it’s pretty darn good.
