I’ve been using this Extra Strength Fabric Protector Spray for a few months now, and honestly, it’s been a game-changer around my house. I grabbed the 32oz bottle after my kid spilled grape juice on our light-colored sofa for like the fifth time (sigh), and I was pretty desperate for a solution.
First off, this stuff is super versatile. I’ve sprayed it on practically everything—our living room couch, the dining room chairs that always get food dropped on them, my husband’s suede shoes that he ruined in the rain last year, and even the carpet in our high-traffic hallway. It works on pretty much any fabric you can think of, which is kind of amazing when you think about it.
What I really love is how it actually repels liquids. The first time I watched my coffee literally bead up on my newly-treated armchair instead of soaking in, I didn’t expect that! It was actually pretty satisfying to just wipe it right off. Same with some red wine that my sister spilled during girls’ night—no panic attack necessary!
The fact that it’s PFAS-free was actually a big selling point for me. I’m not usually super paranoid about chemicals, but with two kids and a dog running around, I didn’t want to spray something potentially harmful all over our furniture. It doesn’t smell bad either, which is nice because some of these protective sprays can be pretty overwhelming. This one dries without any funky odor, and you can’t even tell it’s there—the fabric feels exactly the same.
I was a bit worried about the sprayer quality (I’ve been burned before with spray bottles that break after like three uses), but this one is pretty good. It gives a nice, even mist without making my hand cramp up. To be fair, I did have to adjust it a couple times to get it just right, but nothing major.
One bottle goes pretty far—I’ve treated our entire living room set, dining chairs, and a few pairs of shoes, and still have about a quarter of the bottle left. The protection seems to last too. We’re about 6 months in on the living room couch, and it’s still going strong, though I’ll probably reapply soon just to be safe since that’s where we hang out the most.
Application is pretty straightforward. Just shake it up, spray it evenly (not too close!), and let it dry for a couple hours. I usually do it in the morning when everyone’s out of the house so nobody sits on wet furniture. It’s comfier than my old method of covering everything in plastic slipcovers like my grandmother used to do!
For the price, I think it’s worth every penny considering what it would cost to replace or professionally clean our furniture. If you’ve got kids, pets, or just clumsy friends (looking at you, wine night crew), this is honestly a must-have.
