DELAVIN Set of 4 Solid Wood Dining Chairs with Oak Legs, Farmhouse Style, Walnut
So I finally bit the bullet and replaced our old dining chairs that were falling apart, and honestly? I’m kicking myself for not doing it sooner. These DELAVIN chairs are pretty much everything I was looking for.
First off, these things are solid. Like, really solid. They’re made from actual oak wood—not that cheap particle board stuff that starts wobbling after a few months. Each chair has these thick oak legs that don’t budge at all when you sit down. My husband’s a big guy (around 230 pounds) and he feels totally secure in them. They’re supposed to hold up to 260 pounds, which seems about right. The walnut finish is gorgeous too—kind of warm and rustic looking, and you can see all the natural wood grain which I’m a sucker for.
The comfort factor is way better than I expected! The backrest has this slight curve to it that actually supports your spine, which is nice when we have those longer family dinners where everyone’s sitting around talking for hours. The seats are pretty roomy too—about 17.5 by 16.5 inches if you’re wondering. And cleaning them? So easy. My 6-year-old spilled spaghetti sauce all over one the first night (of course), and it wiped right off with a damp cloth. No drama.
What I really love is how versatile these are. We’ve got four around our dining table, but I’m honestly thinking about getting two more for our kitchen island. They’d probably work great in a home office or even as accent chairs in a bedroom too. I’ve seen similar styles at this little café near my house that charges like $6 for a latte, so they definitely have that trendy farmhouse vibe going on. They’re not huge either—about 33.5 inches tall, 18.5 inches wide, and 20.5 inches deep—so they don’t overwhelm our somewhat modest dining space.
The whole ergonomic thing actually makes a difference. The seat height is about 17.7 inches from the floor, which feels just right for our table. My mom has bad back issues and even she commented on how comfortable they were when she visited last weekend. There are these little footrest bars built into the legs too, which is a nice touch for stability.
Putting them together wasn’t bad at all. The box had all the parts, instructions were clear enough (unlike some IKEA nightmares I’ve dealt with), and it took me maybe 15-20 minutes per chair while I was watching Netflix. To be fair, I did need a glass of wine by the fourth chair, but that’s just assembly fatigue!
They’re solid oak with that nice walnut finish, seat height is 17.7 inches, backrest height is 16 inches, and each chair weighs about 12 pounds. Not too heavy to move around but substantial enough to feel quality, you know? Just wipe them down with a damp cloth when needed and you’re good to go—no fancy wood polish required.
