I’ve been eyeing a new chair for my apartment for months, and honestly, I finally bit the bullet and got this dark grey corduroy swivel barrel chair. Let me tell you, it’s pretty much the coziest thing I’ve sat in in ages!
The corduroy fabric is actually way softer than I expected – it’s got this really nice feel against your skin that doesn’t get sticky or uncomfortable even when I’m binge-watching shows for hours (which happens more than I’d like to admit). The dark grey color works with basically everything in my living room, which was a huge relief since I’m terrible at interior design stuff.
The whole swivel thing? Kind of a game-changer. I didn’t think I’d use it that much, but it’s surprisingly handy when I’m talking to my roommate in the kitchen while still facing the TV – you know how it is! The metal base seems pretty solid too, not like some of those cheaper chairs that wobble after a week.
Comfort-wise, it’s definitely a step up from my old IKEA chair. The back has this nice curve to it, and there’s enough cushioning that I don’t get that weird back pain I used to. The foam is firm but not like, uncomfortably hard or anything. I’m about average size, but my 6’2″ friend sat in it and said it was comfortable too, so the 300-pound weight capacity seems legit.
To be fair, the ottoman might be my favorite part. It’s got this storage space inside where I’ve been stuffing all my throw blankets and random living room junk that was cluttering up the place. I also use it as a coffee table sometimes when I’m eating dinner and watching TV (probably not what it’s meant for, but whatever works, right?).
The best part? I didn’t have to put anything together! After struggling through multiple IKEA nightmares, this was such a relief. Just took it out of the box, and boom – ready to go. The covers come off for washing too, which is pretty nice considering I spilled coffee on it within the first week (typical me).
It fits perfectly in the corner of my apartment, which isn’t huge. Actually looks more expensive than it is, and a couple of my friends have already asked where I got it. Way comfier than my old couch, though not quite as roomy if you’re used to spreading out.
