Heads up! Just so you know, this comes in two separate boxes – I found that out the hard way! They ship together but might arrive on different days depending on delivery schedules. Honestly, I waited an extra day wondering where the base was before I realized this.
So I finally got my Cynefin oversized chair last week, and it’s pretty much changed my living room game. This thing is HUGE – like, 38 inches wide kind of huge. I’m not even exaggerating when I say I can totally curl up in it with my dog and still have room. The fabric feels really nice against your skin, not scratchy at all, and the cushioning is dense enough that you don’t sink too far down (which was a problem with my old chair).
The backrest is probably my favorite part – it’s got this ergonomic angle that just works with your spine, you know? I’ve been working from home lately and sitting in it for hours, and my lower back doesn’t scream at me like it used to with my previous setup. The armrests are at just the right height too – not too high where your shoulders scrunch up, but not too low either.
Putting it together wasn’t bad at all. Took me maybe 20-25 minutes tops? No tools needed, which was a relief since I’m honestly terrible with all that stuff. Just followed the instructions and clicked everything into place. Pretty straightforward, to be fair.
As for how it looks – I got the charcoal gray one and it kind of ties my whole room together now? The wooden legs have this nice oak finish that matches my coffee table, which I didn’t even plan but was a happy accident! The tufting detail adds a bit of class without being over-the-top fancy. My mom actually asked if it was from one of those expensive furniture stores when she visited, so that’s saying something.
I’m genuinely impressed by how solid this chair feels. The frame doesn’t creak or wobble at all when I flop into it (and I’m not exactly gentle). The little pads on the bottom of the legs are a nice touch – my hardwood floors are definitely grateful. I’m a bigger guy, about 220 pounds, and it handles my weight no problem. The foam seems like it’ll hold up well too – doesn’t feel like it’s going to flatten out anytime soon.
Customer service seems decent too. I had a question about the delivery of the second box and emailed them late at night, not expecting much. But they got back to me first thing the next morning, which was kind of surprising.
For the specs nerds like me – it’s 38″ W x 40″ D x 35″ H, seat’s about 18.5″ off the ground, and it can handle up to 350 pounds. The fabric is polyester and seems pretty resistant to stains (already tested that with some spilled coffee, unfortunately).
I’ve been using it for everything – reading corner in the morning with coffee, laptop work during the day, and Netflix binge spot at night. My cat has also claimed partial ownership, which I guess means it passes the pet approval test. Overall, if you’re looking for a comfy chair that doesn’t completely take over your room but still gives you plenty of space to lounge, this one’s not bad at all.
