Cosco SmartFold Steel Folding Chair, 4-Pack, Grey

So I finally broke down and bought these Cosco SmartFold folding chairs after my old rickety ones nearly collapsed during Thanksgiving dinner last year (not my proudest hosting moment!).
I’ve gotta say, these are pretty much exactly what I needed. They showed up in a 4-pack, all in this neutral grey color that honestly goes with everything in my house. They’re kind of an upgrade from the typical folding chairs you might remember from school events – you know, the ones that left your butt numb after 20 minutes?
The first thing I noticed when I unpacked them was how much lighter they are than my old ones – just about 7 pounds each, which makes a huge difference when you’re setting up for a party. I’m not exactly a weightlifter, so this was a big deal for me! They fold up super thin too, like barely 3 inches when collapsed, which is fantastic because my storage closet is already packed to the brim with holiday decorations I refuse to part with.
These chairs are definitely built better than I expected for the price. The frame is made of this sturdy alloy steel with a nice grey powder coating. I was honestly surprised by how solid they feel – they can apparently hold up to 250 pounds, which worked fine when my brother-in-law (who’s not exactly small) came over for game night.
What I really appreciate is the comfort factor. They’ve got this foam padding that’s not amazing or anything, but it’s pretty comfortable for a folding chair. The backrest has a bit of contour to it, which is nice when you’re sitting through an entire dinner party. My friend Sarah actually commented on how they were more comfortable than the wooden dining chairs at her place!
The best part? They don’t scratch up my hardwood floors! My old chairs used to leave these little marks that drove me crazy, but these have these rubber-like caps on the feet that seem to protect the floor pretty well.
I’ve been using them for everything – extra seating when family visits, card games with the neighbors, and even set up a temporary work area when I needed a change of scenery from my home office. They’re so easy to just grab, unfold, and put away that I’m using them way more than I thought I would.
Storage-wise, they’re a game-changer compared to my old bulky ones. These are actually about 3.5 inches shorter when folded than traditional Cosco chairs (according to the product info), and honestly, in my packed hall closet, every inch counts!
Are they the fanciest chairs ever? Nope. But for folding chairs that don’t cost a fortune and won’t embarrass you when guests come over, these are pretty solid. They’re definitely a step up from those plastic chairs my parents used to pull out for holiday gatherings!
