Cosco Kids Simple Fold Highchair, Lightweight & Compact, Posey Pop
So I finally bit the bullet and got the Cosco Simple Fold Highchair after my sister-in-law wouldn’t stop raving about hers, and honestly? It’s been a total game-changer for our family. I can’t believe I waited this long!
The portability factor is what sold me initially. This thing folds up ridiculously flat – we’re talking just 6 inches wide when collapsed, which is pretty amazing considering how sturdy it is when opened up. It’s super lightweight too, only about 12.5 pounds, which means I can actually carry it with one arm while juggling my toddler with the other. We’ve been taking it to my parents’ place every Sunday, and it’s so much better than trying to balance my little one on those sketchy restaurant highchairs.
Cleanup is, well, as good as it gets with a tiny food monster, you know? The seat is this wipeable vinyl material that doesn’t seem to stain easily (and trust me, we’ve tested it with everything from spaghetti sauce to pureed carrots). The tray pops right into the dishwasher, which is kind of a lifesaver on those nights when I just can’t deal with scrubbing dried mac and cheese off yet another surface.
Setting it up is pretty much idiot-proof, which I appreciate after a long day. No tools, no weird parts to figure out – just unfold, click, and you’re done. Takes like 10 seconds, tops. When we went to that cafĂ© last weekend, I had it ready before my husband even finished ordering our coffees.
The tray has three different positions, which is pretty handy since my little one seems to grow an inch overnight sometimes. It’s got enough space for a plate and some finger foods, plus there’s a built-in cup holder that actually holds her sippy cup securely (unlike our previous highchair where everything ended up on the floor, ugh). We’ve been using it since she was about 6 months, and it should last until she’s around 3 years old or hits 50 pounds – whichever comes first with the way she’s growing!
The seat itself is comfier than it looks. There’s this padded cushion and a little leg rest so her feet aren’t just dangling there. The 5-point harness keeps her secure but not restricted – important for a wiggly toddler who thinks she’s an escape artist. The frame feels really solid too. Much sturdier than that plastic booster seat we had before that always felt like it was one tantrum away from tipping over.
I was kind of worried about the safety aspect initially (first-time mom paranoia, you know?), but it’s JPMA certified and made with non-toxic materials. The wide base makes it super stable – my little tornado hasn’t managed to rock it yet, despite her best efforts during those “I don’t want peas!” moments.
The Posey Pop pattern is actually cuter in person than in the photos – it’s this sweet floral design with pinks and greens that brightens up our kitchen. Not too babyish either, which I appreciate.
It’s been so handy for more than just mealtimes. Sometimes I’ll set it up in the kitchen with some toys on the tray while I’m cooking, or even take it out on the deck in nice weather so she can have her snack outside. When we visited my sister’s tiny apartment in the city, she was so relieved we brought our own highchair since she doesn’t have room for baby gear.
The one-handed tray removal is a feature I didn’t know I needed until I had it. Makes getting a squirmy baby in and out so much easier. And the non-slip feet actually work – our kitchen has these slippery tiles and the highchair stays put, unlike practically everything else we own.
For what it costs, this highchair has been worth every penny. It’s not one of those fancy $300 designer models, but it does exactly what we need without any unnecessary bells and whistles. If you’re looking for something practical that won’t take up half your dining room or require a engineering degree to operate, you might want to check this one out!
