I finally bit the bullet and grabbed this little camping stool, and honestly, it’s been kind of a game-changer for me. I’ve been taking it everywhere lately!
The thing’s super versatile – I first got it for camping trips, but I’ve ended up using it way more than I expected. Last weekend I was stuck in this ridiculous line for concert tickets, and while everyone else was shifting around on their feet and looking miserable, I just whipped out my little stool and sat pretty comfortably for like an hour and a half. It’s also been great when I’m working in the garden or when my kid has those never-ending soccer practices where the bleachers are always full.
What I really appreciate about this stool (compared to my old one that kept collapsing on me at the worst times!) is how it only folds when you want it to. The legs only move when you push down vertically to close it, not like those annoying pop-up stools that randomly decide to fold while you’re sitting on them – learned that lesson the hard way, trust me.
It’s pretty lightweight too – just 1.3 pounds, which is basically nothing. To be fair, it’s about the same as carrying a small umbrella in your bag. When it’s folded up, it’s tiny – like 2.6 x 2.6 x 12.6 inches – which means I can slip it into the side pocket of my backpack or even keep it in my car’s glove box without it taking up much space at all. The carry bag it comes with is actually not terrible quality either, which was a nice surprise.
For a compact stool, the size is actually not bad at all. When you unfold it, you get a seat that’s about 12.2 x 12.2 inches, and it sits at a height of 13.8 inches. That’s pretty good for most adults – I’m 5’10” and it’s comfortable enough for temporary sitting. My 7-year-old thinks it’s the coolest thing ever, by the way. He’s always wanting to fold and unfold it, which I guess is better than being glued to a tablet.
The comfort level is definitely decent for what it is. The seat is made with this 1800D Oxford cloth material that feels pretty durable and doesn’t get soggy when the ground is a bit damp. I was worried about how sturdy it would be since it’s so light, but the aluminum and steel frame holds up surprisingly well. My brother-in-law who’s around 250 pounds tried it out (I was a bit nervous, not gonna lie), and it held him just fine.
The stool’s been through a bit already – some muddy camping trips, a rainy football game, and my kid dropping it repeatedly – and it’s still going strong. Cleaning it is super easy too, just a quick wipe down and it’s good to go.
All in all, it’s been one of those random purchases that’s turned out to be way more useful than I thought it would be. If you’re looking for something portable to sit on that doesn’t take up space or weigh you down, this little stool is definitely worth checking out.
