I finally caved and bought this Caterpillar Lazy Sofa Chair after seeing it everywhere online, and honestly? It’s been a total game-changer for my tiny apartment! I went with the white one in that encircling style, which looks way better in person than I expected.
First off, this thing is super comfy. The suede material feels pretty luxurious – kind of soft and waxy, if that makes sense? I was worried the white would get dirty immediately (I’m not exactly the neatest person), but it’s actually holding up really well. The material doesn’t wrinkle much either, which is nice since I’m definitely not ironing a chair, lol.
The whole frameless design is what sold me. There’s this high-density sponge inside (I think they said something like 37KG/M³ density?) that just hits different compared to my old futon. It’s got this nice bounce-back quality – firm enough that you don’t sink in completely but soft enough that I’ve accidentally fallen asleep on it twice this week. The way it wraps around you is actually perfect for someone like me who loves to curl up while reading or binging shows.
Temperature-wise, it’s been surprisingly decent. My apartment gets super hot in the afternoon, but the chair doesn’t get all sweaty and gross like my leather couch used to. The velvet-ish finish feels kinda fancy but in a low-key way, you know?
One thing I really appreciate is the height – it’s about 35cm off the ground, which means my feet actually touch the floor (I’m on the shorter side). The backrest is thick enough (around 20cm) that my back doesn’t hurt even after working from home on it all day. To be fair, I probably shouldn’t be working from a lazy chair, but here we are!
It’s big enough that I can fully stretch out to nap, but not so massive that it’s eating up my limited space. My boyfriend and I can squeeze on together for movie nights, though it’s definitely cozier than spacious when we do.
The attention to detail is pretty impressive for what I paid. There’s these little non-slip things on the bottom so it doesn’t slide around on my hardwood floors. And the way it supports my lower back, spine, and hips is honestly better than my actual mattress (which probably says more about my mattress than this chair, but still).
Moving it around is easy enough – it’s lightweight but not flimsy. The corners are rounded so I don’t hurt myself when I inevitably bump into it in the middle of the night.
I’ve had friends over who immediately ask where I got it. It just looks good whether it’s in my living area, bedroom, or that weird corner that I sometimes use as an office. Would make a great gift too – kind of wish someone had given it to me instead of me having to buy it myself!
Specs-wise, it’s about 90x80x65cm, weighs maybe 15kg, and can supposedly hold up to 150kg. Mine came already assembled (thank goodness) and keeping it clean has just been a quick wipe with a damp cloth when needed.
