So I finally got my hands on this Brafab Double Egg Chair, and honestly, I couldn’t be happier with it. I’ve been eyeing these egg-shaped hanging chairs for ages but wanted something my husband and I could actually share without being squished together.
The quality is pretty impressive – you can tell it’s handcrafted. The gray wicker looks way more expensive than what I paid, and the steel frame feels really solid. It’s got this powder coating thing going on that’s supposed to prevent rust, which is great since we’re keeping ours on the covered patio. The cushions are thicker than I expected and actually comfortable enough that I’ve dozed off in it twice already (not even kidding!).
Safety-wise, I was kind of nervous about hanging chairs before, but this one has this dual-hook setup that makes it super stable. We’re not exactly lightweights in our household, but with a 450-pound capacity, it handles both of us with no problem. My teenager and her friend were swinging pretty wildly in it yesterday, and it didn’t budge at all from its base.
What I love most is how versatile it is. We initially had it in our living room corner, but ended up moving it to the patio where it just… fits better? The fact that it doesn’t need ceiling mounting is such a plus – our apartment manager would’ve had a fit if we started drilling into the ceiling! It looks fantastic in both places though, and the gray color goes with pretty much everything.
Size-wise, it’s bigger than it looks in pictures. It’s about 75.6 inches long, 55 inches wide, and we can both comfortably curl up in it. My husband is 6’2″ and he fits perfectly, which is saying something. The egg shape kind of cradles you in a way that’s hard to explain but feels amazing after a long day.
Now, I won’t lie – assembly took us closer to an hour, not the 30-45 minutes they claimed. But to be fair, we were watching TV while putting it together. All the tools came with it, and the instructions were clear enough. The nice thing is you can take it apart for storage if needed, though we haven’t had to do that yet.
One thing I wasn’t expecting is how the cushions are actually removable and washable. This has been a lifesaver with our cat who’s already claimed it as her new favorite spot. The chair has this gentle swinging motion that’s more subtle than I thought it would be – not like a porch swing, more like a soft rocking chair feel.
