So I finally upgraded my old plastic patio chairs, and honestly, I’m kicking myself for not doing it sooner! I picked up these Boho Folding Wood Chairs after seeing them online, and they’re pretty much exactly what I was looking for.
Let me tell you, these chairs have seriously elevated my backyard situation. They look way more stylish than those cheap chairs I had before. I’ve had a couple of family BBQs since getting them, and everyone keeps asking where I found them. The best part? They fold up super easily when I’m done, which is perfect because my storage space is kind of limited. I just fold them up and slide them behind my garden shed – so much better than having chairs taking up space all the time.
The chairs are made from acacia wood, which feels really solid compared to my old plastic ones. They have this nice natural grain pattern that just looks more grown-up, you know? I was worried about leaving wooden chairs outside, but they’ve held up pretty well through a couple of rainstorms already. The package said they can support up to 250 pounds, which seems accurate – my brother-in-law is a pretty big guy and had no issues. I also appreciate that they’re supposedly from sustainable forests or whatever. To be fair, I didn’t buy them specifically for that reason, but it’s a nice bonus.
Weight-wise, they’re not too bad – about 18 pounds each. I can carry two at once when I’m setting up for backyard hangouts. Last weekend, I even threw them in the back of my SUV for a beach picnic with friends, which worked out great. They’re definitely more portable than they look!
One thing I absolutely love is that they came fully assembled. Like, zero assembly required! After dealing with some nightmare IKEA furniture recently, this was such a relief. Just took them out of the box, unfolded, and they were ready to go. The seat is actually really comfortable – it’s got this ergonomic curve that fits your body pretty well. The backrest is tall enough to support your back properly, which is nice for those longer sitting sessions. Mine sit about 17 inches off the ground, which is lower than my dining chairs but not as low as those camping chairs that are practically on the ground.
Some other nice features: they have these little rubber feet that keep them from sliding around on my deck, and the wood has some kind of protective finish that seems to be holding up well in the sun. When folded, they’re pretty flat – about 5.5 inches thick – so they don’t take up much room.
Size-wise, they’re about 30 inches long, 21.5 inches wide, and 31.5 inches high when open. I’ve been using them mostly on my patio, but I actually brought a couple inside last week when I had extra dinner guests, and they looked surprisingly good with my dining table.
Just a heads-up – the actual color is pretty close to the pictures, but maybe a touch darker in real life. And I noticed the measurements might be off by like half an inch, but that’s no big deal.
Maintenance hasn’t been too bad. I wiped them down once with a damp cloth after a bird decided to use one as a target, and it cleaned up fine. I’ll probably use some kind of wood sealer on them before winter hits, just to be safe.
