So I just got this black rolling stool for my little home beauty station, and honestly? It’s pretty much changed my makeup game. I’ve been looking for something comfortable that doesn’t make my back scream after sitting for an hour, and this thing actually delivers.
The seat has this weird concave shape that I wasn’t sure about at first, but it turns out it’s actually super comfortable! It kind of cradles you in a way that regular flat chairs don’t. The padding is really nice too – firm enough that you’re not sinking in, but definitely cushiony enough for those long sessions when I’m doing a full face or practicing new techniques.
What I really love is how solid this thing feels. My last stool was this cheap plastic thing that wobbled if you looked at it wrong. This one has a metal base that feels way more substantial. They say it holds up to 350 pounds, which seems pretty impressive for something that only weighs like 16 pounds! The wheels are definitely a step up too – they glide really smoothly on my hardwood floors and don’t make that annoying squeaky sound my old one did. I can actually roll around without worrying about scratching up my floors, which is a huge relief.
The height adjustment is pretty perfect for my vanity setup. I needed something a bit taller than a regular chair since my vanity is higher than a desk, and this works great – goes from about 19 to 25 inches. The adjustment lever thingy works smoothly too, not like those jerky ones that either don’t move or suddenly drop you.
Putting it together was surprisingly easy. Took me maybe 8 minutes? No tools needed, which was a nice surprise since I’m not exactly handy with that stuff.
The faux leather is decent quality – not the super cheap kind that starts peeling after a month. It cleans up well too, which is important since I’ve definitely spilled foundation on it already (oops!). The black color goes with pretty much everything, so it doesn’t look out of place in my bedroom.
I was initially thinking this might be overkill for just home use, but to be fair, if you’re spending any real time doing makeup or working at a counter-height surface, your back will thank you for investing in something ergonomic. It’s comfier than my actual office chair, which I didn’t expect!
The backrest is probably my favorite feature – it hits my lower back just right and keeps me from slouching forward like I usually do. After using it for a few weeks, I’ve noticed I’m not getting those usual aches after long makeup sessions.
If you’re an esthetician, makeup artist, or just someone who spends a lot of time at a higher workspace, I’d definitely recommend checking this out. For around-the-house use, it might be a bit of a splurge, but I kind of think it’s worth it for how much more comfortable I am now.
