I finally pulled the trigger on these Alunaune 26″ Swivel Bar Stools after weeks of searching for something that wouldn’t break the bank but still look good in my kitchen remodel. Honestly, I’m pretty impressed with what I got for the price!
The industrial look is exactly what I was going for – kind of that modern-meets-vintage vibe with the matte black metal frame and wooden seats. They’re definitely more stylish than those basic stools you see everywhere. The wooden seats are actually solid hardwood (not that cheap composite stuff), and they’ve held up pretty well to my kids climbing all over them for the past month.
Setting them up wasn’t bad at all. Took me maybe 15 minutes per stool while I was watching TV, and I’m not exactly a DIY wizard. You basically just attach the seat and backrest with the included tools. Not bad at all!
The swivel feature is something I didn’t think I’d care about, but it’s honestly super convenient. My husband is always turning to talk to me while I’m at the sink, and before he’d have to awkwardly twist around on our old stools. The height (26″) works perfectly with our countertops which are about 36″ high – they recommend a 10″ difference and that seems about right.
One thing that surprised me was how sturdy these are. I was a bit worried since they’re not super heavy (about 14 pounds each), but that X-brace underneath really helps. My brother-in-law is a pretty big guy (not sure if he’s quite 330 pounds, which is supposedly the weight limit, but he’s close) and they don’t wobble at all when he sits on them.
The rubber feet are a nice touch too – our kitchen has hardwood floors and these don’t scratch them up when we drag them around. And we can stack them when company comes over and we need the extra space, which is pretty convenient for our small-ish kitchen.
To be fair, they’re not as comfy as our living room furniture for super long sitting sessions, but they’re definitely comfortable enough for meals or working on my laptop for a couple hours. The high back makes a big difference compared to our old backless stools.
They come in different heights and colors too, which is cool. I almost went with the antique bronze, but the matte black matches our pendant lights better. I’m kinda tempted to get two more for our basement bar area now!
